Your role
Reporting to the Manager, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) for Newmont’s Tanami Mine Operations in the position of Lead, Facilities Management you will plan and execute site accommodation village infrastructure, catering, janitorial requirements, site access, transport and logistics services, facilities maintenance and provide leadership to a small team of direct reports in service delivery excellence.
The position will be offered on a fixed-term employment basis (12 to 16 months) working on-site at the Tanami mine located in the remote Northern Territory working on a fly in fly out roster of 8 days on/6 days off from Perth, Darwin, Brisbane or Alice Springs. Mine village accommodation will be provided.
Key responsibilities include
- Being responsible for compliance to Newmont standards and objectives and regulatory requirements for all related NPI activities
- Ensuring employee and community expectations for a safe, healthy and positive experience are met and/or exceeded
- Proposing and deploying activities that maximise cost-effective management of assets within budget and in collaboration with site, leadership and community stakeholders
- Conducting regular in-field monitoring, assessment and review of contractor and vendor performance and maintain relevant records – i.e. inspection, observation and auditing reports
- Identifying and addressing risks associated with allocation of site/accommodation village access and escalate as needed
- Providing visible safety leadership and commit to a positive workplace culture
- Mentoring, supporting and guiding a team of direct reports.
Prerequisite skills and experience
- Degree qualification in Business, Logistics, Facilities Management or related
- Extensive NPI-related mining industry exposure – i.e. site village accommodation and facilities maintenance, transport and logistics management, workforce mobilisation scheduling
- Previous hospitality industry experience with understanding of food safety requirements
- Skills in supplier and vendor contract management including budgeting and reporting
- Sound knowledge of mining industry safety, environmental and health standards and regulatory frameworks
- Proficient skills in MS Office and SAP software
- Full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia.
Work environment
Newmont has fully owned and operated the Tanami mine since 2002. The mine operates in the remote Tanami Desert of Australia. The mine and plant are located on Aboriginal freehold land that is owned by the Warlpiri people and managed on their behalf by the Central Desert Aboriginal Lands Trust. Tanami is a fly-in-fly-out operation in one of Australia’s most remote locations. Tanami is 270 km from its closest neighbours, the remote Aboriginal community of Yuendumu.
