About the Role

AWWC is seeking an experienced Environmental Consultant to execute complex native vegetation assessments, habitat restoration projects, and invasive species management programs across regional and remote locations. This position requires regular field travel, extended remote site rosters, and operational engagement around heavy machinery.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct Flora and Fauna assessments, native vegetation habitat scoring, and ecological compliance reporting in accordance with relevant statutory frameworks.
- Execute integrated weed management strategies for woody and non-woody invasive species across diverse, high-value ecosystems.
- Safely operate and direct work in close proximity to heavy machinery (including skid steers, excavators, and land-clearing plant equipment), alongside chainsaw-based vegetation control.
- Author comprehensive Landscape Management Plans, environmental impact assessments, and weed control strategies.
- Utilize ArcGIS and Python scripting for spatial data processing, ecological mapping, and field data integration.
- Consult and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders - including private landholders, government authorities, community groups, and NGOs leveraging international stakeholder engagement experience to manage environmental outcomes.




- Deploy to remote and regional sites for multi-week field itineraries as required.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

- Education: Master’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a closely related discipline.
- Accreditations & Certifications:
- Accredited Native Vegetation Assessor.
- Relevant Flora and Fauna certifications/qualifications for ecological field assessment.
- Certified or formally trained in flora and fauna identification, ecological field sampling methods, and biodiversity inventory reporting.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Sound working knowledge of statutory environmental legislation and frameworks.

- Machinery & Site Safety: Ticketed/certified in chainsaw and skid steer operation, with demonstrated experience working safely in and around heavy machinery on operational sites.
- International Stakeholder Engagement: Proven international experience liaising and negotiating across private, government, and non-profit sectors.
- Field Work & Travel: Willingness and physical capacity to undertake multi-week field deployments in remote environments.
- GIS Capabilities: Advanced skills in ArcGIS and Python scripting for ecological mapping and spatial analysis
