THE ROLE

As part of its service provision mandate, the Department of Families Fairness and Housing is committed to providing safe and secure buildings for its staff and clients. A critical part of this commitment is the development of a Fire Risk Management Strategy. Its goal is to meet, as a minimum, the standard of fire safety applicable to the wider community and to meet additional standards, where appropriate, to address the particular risks from the attributes of a particular client or client group.

The Fire Services Team is the central point for assessing and providing technical support for fire safety and regulatory compliance to Homes Victoria and the Department of Families Fairness and Housing and focuses on providing safe and secure buildings for all department-owned, operated, or funded facilities in Victoria. It also ensures compliance with relevant statutory Acts, regulations, and fire safety guidelines.

The Fire Services Coordinator is the primary contact for agencies and the wider DFFH divisional areas for all fire safety related queries and work requests. The role requires the coordination of fire services upgrade works in properties owned, operated or funded by the department. Solid stakeholder management and a working knowledge of the department's Capital Development Guidelines – Series 7 is necessary to able to successfully fulfil this role. The Fire Services Coordinator role will work alongside other Coordinators, Project Managers and Fire Safety Engineers in the team.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE





- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
- Contribute to the full life cycle of projects to meet departmental objectives including:
- Assisting in research, analysis and implementation of projects based on defined outcomes and outputs.
- Support the development and delivery of projects or sub-projects and their successful delivery and completion within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.
- Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
