The position of Allied Health Mental Health Mental Health Clinician will: • Deliver competent mental health services as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to assess and treat children and young people with severe and complex mental health problems and disorders, and their families and carers, to optimise psycho-social outcomes.

About the Team

The Integrated Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) provides complex secondary and tertiary level health care. CYMHS offers specialised mental health services for families with infants, children and young people (birth to 18 years) who experience severe and complex mental health problems, and where their needs cannot be met by other services. CYMHS provides a comprehensive, recovery-orientated mental healthcare service that aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people and their carer networks. Recovery principles are embedded into service delivery, culture and practice, providing consumers and their families, in collaboration with other services, access and referral to a range of programs that will support and sustain recovery. CYMHS combines hospital and community-based facilities to provide free consultation, assessment and treatment of children and young people experiencing serious mental health disorders and problems with their carer network.

About the Role

In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

Clinical Practice





- Deliver core clinical services in accordance with the discipline specific Code of Ethics and the National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce. This includes:
- Diagnostic assessment and formulation and timely and appropriate treatment interventions, consistent with current best practice.
- Case management as part of the multidisciplinary team; more advanced clinicians will demonstrate higher levels of independence and clinical skills.
- Provision of reports consistent with discipline and Queensland Health (QH) standards
- Referral, liaison and interagency collaborative care planning

Communication / Team Participation

- Work cooperatively and effectively with the multidisciplinary team and as a member of the discipline to achieve best practice outcomes for consumers and carers
- Provide advice, assessments and reports to contribute to and participate in multidisciplinary case management and to external stakeholders as required.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of relevant local interagency and care networks.

Leadership / Work Unit Management

- Participate in practice supervision and training and with experience provide training and supervision to students as delegated by the Discipline Director.




- Participate in quality activities and/or research to improve practices and multidisciplinary services within the service unit.
- Comply with procedures, policies and standards of QH and professional bodies.
- Commitment and contribution to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equity reform, to Close the Gap by 2033, as underpinned by the CHQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Equity Strategy 2022 – 2025.
