The Opportunity
Due to continued growth, Koppen Construction is seeking a highly organised and motivated Finance & Administration Officer to join our Cairns team on a full-time permanent basis.
This is a diverse role that combines financial administration with broader business support functions. Working closely with Financial Controller and Project Support teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient financial management and day-to-day administration of the business while supporting the delivery of major civil construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Responsibilities
- End-to-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing
- Preparing, reviewing and reconciling supplier statements and invoices
- Processing purchase orders and subcontractor claims
- Maintaining accurate financial records and data entry
- Bank reconciliations and general ledger support
- Assisting with monthly financial reporting and end-of-month processes
- Monitoring project costs and supporting budget tracking
- Maintaining financial compliance and internal controls
- Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and clients regarding account enquiries
Administration Responsibilities
- Providing administrative support to management and project teams
- Coordinating correspondence, emails and telephone enquiries
- Diary, calendar and meeting management
- Meeting preparation and minute taking
- Maintaining project and company databases
- Document control and electronic filing management
- Assisting with contract administration and project documentation
- Supporting tender submissions and business development documentation
- Supporting quality, safety and environmental compliance documentation
Key Requirements
- 2 years' experience in a Finance, Accounts, Bookkeeping or Administration role
- Experience within the civil construction, construction, engineering or related industries highly regarded
- Strong understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and general financial processes
- Experience using accounting software MYOB and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- A proactive attitude with strong problem-solving capabilities
