Designer - Lorna Jane
Empowering Women. Transforming the World.
Before it was called activewear, Lorna Jane imagined it, designed it, and defined it - creating a movement that redefined how women move, dress and live. Today, we lead with purpose, creating elevated product that supports movement, confidence and modern life. Guided by conscious design and a considered eye, we believe in the power of women to create change that goes far beyond what they wear.
At Lorna Jane, you don't just join a brand - you help design what's next.
The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to shape product at one of Australia's most recognised fashion brands. As Designer, you sit at the centre of every collection - from first sketch to final fitting - translating trend, fabrication and silhouette into product that elevates desirability and connects with her.
We're looking for a designer with a genuine love of fashion - someone who reads the runway as fluently as the street, who thinks in silhouette, drape and proportion, and who's honed that eye designing collections at a premium or well-regarded fashion brand.
You think creatively, and you work closely with others to get it right: sourcing fabrics that protect our premium reputation, sketching true-to-form, and holding the line on quality until every garment is right. If you've got an eye for what she wants to wear before she knows she wants it - this is your brief.
What You'll Do
- Design garments and collections with the customer front of mind, working toward sales and desirability targets
- Select fabrics and trims with the judgement to protect the premium quality Lorna Jane is known for
- Lead final fittings - checking construction, fit and quality before signing off with Product Development
- Sketch true-to-form, with clear specifications and construction detail
- Supply approved artwork for production and sign off on product descriptions in-store and online
- Build range boards that bring each collection to life, from concept through to story
- Scan the runway,
street style and global markets for the trends, fabrications and techniques that will shape our next collection
- Partner closely with Product Developers on tech packs, fabric approvals and the critical path
Design - Your Signature
Every garment that carries the Lorna Jane name has been through your hands. This role owns that quality bar - not just designing product but protecting what it means to wear it. You know the difference between a design that photographs well and one that performs, fits and lasts. You bring original thinking to every collection, while staying true to a brand strategy and tone that's been consistent for 37 years.
Why You'll Love Working With Us
- A direct creative environment shaped by 37 years of design leadership
- A brand with a genuine mission to empower women
- Scope to leave your fingerprint on collections that reach women across Australia and beyond
- A collaborative, creative culture, largely led by women, where every voice can shape real product
- A year-round wellbeing calendar built around our Move, Nourish, Believe philosophy
- Exclusive staff discounts and time off on your birthday
About You
- A background in Fashion Design or a related field (degree or equivalent industry experience), with 3+ years in a Designer or similar role - ideally gained at a premium or well-regarded fashion brand
- A strong fashion sensibility - an instinct for silhouette, proportion and trend, backed by real knowledge of garment construction and fitting
- A portfolio that shows range across concept, construction and finish
- A sharp eye for product, fit and what she wants to wear
- Considered, analytical thinking you solve design challenges, you don't just spot them
- Driven and solutions-focused, with the cooperative spirit to bring others along with you
- Clear communication and genuine partnership across cross-functional teams
- The organisation and attention to detail to manage timelines and protect the critical path
