The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is responsible for protecting and managing one of Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes. We care for parks, reserves and marine environments along the Outstanding Ocean Road, including internationally recognised visitor sites. Working closely with Traditional Owners, communities and stakeholders, we protect environmental, cultural and heritage values while supporting sustainable visitation and long‑term conservation.

About the Role ?

The Ranger Leading Hand plays a key role in delivering high-quality land management, conservation and visitor services across GORCAPA’s parks and reserves. Working under the direction of the Ranger Team Leader, and in collaboration with the Protected Area Coordinator and other internal specialists, you will support the coordination and delivery of day-to-day operational activities to ensure the safe, efficient and effective implementation of on-ground programs and works.

The role combines strong practical field expertise with day-to-day work coordination, providing guidance, instruction and support to Rangers, seasonal employees, volunteers and contractors. You will assist in the delivery of a range of land management programs and projects including (but not limited to) conservation works, visitor infrastructure and asset maintenance, compliance and enforcement activities, education and visitor engagement programs, and engagement with Traditional Owners, community members and other stakeholders.

This position is focused on supporting safe and efficient field delivery through clear communication, daily coordination of works, and contributing to team capability and continuous improvement under the direction of the Ranger Team Leader.

What we're looking for





- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in environmental science, conservation, natural resource management, land management, outdoor recreation, a trade discipline or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience supervising teams in ranger services, land management, parks operations or a similar environment.
- Strong operational planning and project delivery skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and resources.
- Experience overseeing contractors, procurement processes and operational budgets.
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety, risk management and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with Traditional Owners, community groups, government agencies and commercial operators.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Secure Chemical Use certificate is desirable.
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Current Australian manual driver's licence.
