About the role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal to join our Brisbane team. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving project excellence, business growth and team performance across AARC's environmental consulting operations
As a trusted adviser to clients and a key contributor to the business, you will provide strategic leadership on complex environmental projects, oversee the professional development of team members, and play an active role in shaping the future direction of the organisation. You will be responsible for strengthening client relationships, expanding market opportunities and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality consulting services.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the delivery of complex environmental projects, including Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), environmental authority applications and major approval processes.
- Provide strategic environmental and regulatory advice to clients across multiple sectors.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key clients, government agencies, regulators and industry stakeholders.
- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and ensure the successful delivery of projects to time, budget and quality objectives.
- Oversee project financial performance, including forecasting, profitability, resource management and risk mitigation.
- Prepare, review and approve high-quality technical reports, proposals and project documentation.
- Lead fee proposal development, tender submissions and commercial negotiations.
- Manage and review the work of specialist subconsultants and project partners.
- Drive business development initiatives, identify growth opportunities and contribute to achieving revenue targets.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of existing and prospective clients.
- Lead,
coach and mentor environmental professionals, supporting career development, succession planning and technical excellence.
- Support recruitment, workforce planning and capability development initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic business planning and continuous improvement across the organisation.
- Represent AARC at industry events, conferences and skilled forums.
- Promote and exemplify AARC's values, culture and commitment to excellence in all professional interactions.
- Undertake site visits across Australasia and internationally as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Environmental Science, Ecology or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10-15 years' experience in environmental consulting or a related sector.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing senior-level client relationships.
- Proven ability to secure work, grow client portfolios and contribute to business development outcomes.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project financial performance and profitability.
- Extensive experience delivering complex environmental approvals and regulatory processes.
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
- Full Australian working rights (mandatory)
- A valid Australian driver's licence
