About the role
We are seeking a Receivals Team Leader to lead our Sample Receivals and Preparation team within our Soil and Plant Analysis Laboratory. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting Australia's agricultural sector by ensuring the efficient processing and preparation of soil, plant and water samples.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supervising the Receivals and Sample Preparation team
- Day to day coordination of activities including sorting samples received across the country in a high throughput laboratory, sample registration, sample preparation- crushing, grinding, sieving and washing up of laboratory equipment.
- Recruiting, onboarding and managing seasonal casual employees
- Ensuring safe, efficient and accurate processing of all samples
- Maintaining grinding equipment and managing stock of consumables relevant to the area
- Managing waste disposal and quarantine material handling requirements
- Ensuring procedures and operating standards are followed consistently
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across receivals and preparation processes
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers
- Promoting a strong safety culture and leading by example in workplace safety practices.
About You
To be successful in the role you will bring:
- An understanding of sample preparation processes and laboratory operations
- Experience working within operational, laboratory, manufacturing, agricultural or similar environments
- Proven experience leading and developing teams
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Excellent communication and customer service capabilities
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A commitment to safety, continuous improvement and quality outcomes
- The flexibility to work additional hours during peak seasonal periods when required.
