ATS is appointing a Senior Occupational Therapist to two connected roles: organisation-wide technical expert for our adult and aged care OT services, and clinical lead for our Cairns hub.

This is a role for a clinician with genuine depth in complex adult work — home modifications, complex assistive technology and SDA, functional capacity assessment, aged care — who is ready to spend most of the week growing other people's practice rather than carrying a full caseload of their own.

ATS is a registered NDIS provider delivering across a range of funding streams — NDIS, WorkCover QLD, Comcare, NIISQ, private health, and as an Associated Provider for aged care. Our adult and aged care OT service is growing, and it needs someone to own how it is done.

Why this role is different

The time is real. Around 20–30% of your calendar is client-facing. The rest is protected for supervision, service development, documentation and teaching. We are not asking you to lead a service in the gaps between billable appointments.

You own the model. The adult and aged care OT clinical model, assessment approach, report standards, templates and competency framework across every ATS hub - yours to build, not inherit.

Support that exists on paper and in practice. Structured clinical supervision, a dedicated professional development allowance plus time off to use it, monthly discipline meetings, whole-team lunch and learns, and support from our Clinical Director for clinical guidance and frameworks.

A team that will actually use what you teach. Clinicians across four hubs, a growing adult and aged care referral base, and leadership that wants the technical standard raised.

About the role - part one: adult & aged care technical lead

Across all ATS locations, you will:

- Own the clinical model and service standards for adult and aged care occupational therapy

- Build and maintain the assessment approach, report templates, clinical documentation and evidence base clinicians work from

- Set and hold the quality bar on complex home modifications, complex AT and SDA, functional capacity assessments and aged care assessment

- Provide technical consultation on complex cases - the person OTs bring the hard ones to

- Review reports and provide developmental feedback that lifts standards rather than just correcting drafts

- Design and deliver internal training, competency frameworks and progression pathways for adult and aged care OT

- Provide clinical supervision to OTs working across adult and aged care caseloads





- Partner with the Clinical Director on clinical governance, risk and service development

- Support referral growth by being the technical face of the service to referrers, care partners and support coordinators

About the role - part two: clinical lead, Cairns

For the Cairns hub, you will:

- Provide day-to-day clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team of approximately 10 clinicians across Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Psychology and Positive Behaviour Support

- Lead hub clinical meetings, case discussion and multidisciplinary planning

- Support clinicians through complexity, risk and escalation — the first call when something is difficult

- Work with discipline leads so every clinician has appropriate discipline-specific supervision

- Foster the culture: safe to ask, expected to grow, honest about what is not working

- Partner with the Cairns Practice Manager on service delivery, capacity and client experience

Your caseload

A focused adult and aged care caseload of approximately 20–30% of your time. Deliberately small, so you stay current and credible while having the capacity to lead.

What you'll bring

Essential

- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy from a recognised university

- Current AHPRA registration

- 7+ years post-graduate experience, with substantial depth in adult and/or aged care occupational therapy

- Demonstrated capability across complex home modifications, complex assistive technology and SDA,



functional capacity assessment, and aged care assessment (Support at Home / CHSP)

- Track record of supervising, mentoring or developing less experienced clinicians

- Confidence writing and reviewing reports to NDIS Practice Standards and aged care requirements

- Sound clinical reasoning under complexity, and the judgement to know when to escalate

- Ability to give direct, developmental feedback and hold a standard without deflating people

- Current Yellow Card (NDIS Worker Screening) or willingness to obtain

- Current and unrestricted driver's licence

- Commercially aware approach - understanding the importance of financial viability in a private practice setting

Desirable

- Formal clinical supervision training

- Experience building clinical resources, templates or competency frameworks from scratch

- Experience leading or coordinating a multidisciplinary team

- Experience delivering services in regional or remote communities

- Experience across multiple funding streams (NDIS, aged care, WorkCover, NIISQ, Comcare, private)

- Salary of $125,000 - $145,000 (skill dependent) plus superannuation, performance bonus and professional development allowance

Important information
