About the Role

We are looking for an ambitious person who wants to learn how to run, grow and ultimately manage a successful business.

We are a small Australian manufacturer of specialty tools and equipment for the mining industry, supplying customers both domestically and internationally.

This is not a traditional entry-level traineeship. You will work directly alongside the current Manager and be trained across all areas of the business, including sales, operations, finance, customers, suppliers, staff, strategy and business development.

As part of a small team, you will also be involved in the practical day-to-day running of the business. This will include:

- Supervising day-to-day workshop and operational activities

- Carrying out and overseeing quality assurance and final product checks

- Preparing customer quotes and responding to enquiries via email

- Processing and dispatching domestic and international orders

- Coordinating freight, documentation and customer requirements

- Liaising with customers, suppliers and service providers

- Helping ensure orders are completed accurately and on time

- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, sales and profitability

Because we are a small business, this is a hands-on role. You will gain exposure to almost every part of the company rather than being limited to one department.

The intention is for the successful candidate to progressively take on more responsibility and, once ready, move into the Manager role and take responsibility for running the business.

Alongside your practical training, we will support and pay for relevant formal qualifications. We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to become qualified and develop the commercial,

financial and leadership skills required to manage a business.

The starting salary will be relatively modest while you are learning, but will increase as you progress through your qualifications, demonstrate capability and take on greater responsibility.

Importantly, this role will also include the opportunity to earn significant performance bonuses linked to the profitability and growth of the business. We want the future Manager to think like an owner and be rewarded for improving the performance of the company.

Who We’re Looking For

The right person will be ambitious, commercially minded and keen to build a long-term career in business management. Previous management experience is not essential — attitude, intelligence, work ethic and willingness to learn are more important.

You should be someone who:

- Wants to learn how a business actually operates from end to end

- Is interested in sales, finance, operations and business growth

- Is comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment

- Has strong attention to detail and takes quality seriously

- Is willing to undertake formal study while working

- Wants increasing responsibility rather than simply a job

- Is comfortable being accountable for results

- Has strong communication and problem-solving skills

- Is confident dealing with customers by email and phone

- Is organised and capable of managing multiple orders and priorities

- Is motivated by the prospect to eventually run a business

- Likes the idea of having their remuneration linked to the success they help create

For the right person, this is an opportunity to develop from a trainee into a fully qualified business manager with substantial responsibility, autonomy and earning potential.
