MAMAS Dining Group is behind some of Melbourne’s most recognisable hospitality venues: Hochi Mama CBD, Hochi Mama Richmond, Straight Outta Saigon, Kiss & Tell, Suzie Q , Windsor Wine Room and Spaghetti Club.

Each venue has its own identity, team and way of doing things. What connects them is our expectation around great hospitality, robust leadership and venues that perform.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Area Manager who knows how to bring all three together. Someone who can walk into a venue, understand what’s working, spot what isn’t, and work alongside the leadership team to make it better.

THE ROLE

This is a hands-on multi-site leadership role working closely with our Venue Managers and wider leadership team.

You’ll have ownership of a portfolio of venues and be responsible for helping those businesses perform - commercially, operationally and culturally.

Some days that means reviewing labour and venue performance with a VM. Others, it’s coaching a leadership team, working through a staffing challenge, getting ahead of a busy trading period or simply being present in a venue and seeing firsthand what the guest and team experience actually looks like.

You’ll be responsible for:

- Leading and supporting Venue Managers across your portfolio.

- Driving venue performance across revenue, labour, COGS and turning budgets and KPIs into clear, practical actions for venue teams.

- Building strong, accountable leadership teams and supporting succession and development.

- Maintaining consistently high standards across service, presentation and guest experience.

- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, efficiencies and ways of working.

- Working collaboratively across Human Resources,



Finance and Marketing.

- Ensuring our venues operate safely and meet their compliance obligations.

- Helping us successfully navigate the growth and evolution of the MAMAS portfolio.

Most importantly, you’ll know when to coach, when to challenge and when to roll up your sleeves and help!

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You’ve already led multiple hospitality venues and understand the realities of doing it well.

You’re comfortable moving between the numbers and the people behind them. You can talk P&L; and labour one minute, then sit down with a Venue Manager and have a meaningful conversation about their team, leadership or development the next.

We’re looking for someone with:

- Proven multi-site leadership experience within hospitality

- Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing budgets, labour, COGS and venue performance

- A genuine ability to coach and develop Venue Managers and emerging leaders

- High operational standards and an eye for the details that affect the guest experience

- Strong communication and the confidence to have clear, constructive conversations

- The ability to bring structure and accountability without losing the personality that makes hospitality great

And importantly, you genuinely like being in venues and around hospitality people.
