About the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry Victoria

Aboriginal Catholic Ministry Victoria (ACMV) is a ministry of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne; that supports, forms and presents the voices of Aboriginal Catholic people of Victoria to the wider Catholic Church community. ACMV strives to be recognised for its commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as having their rightful place in the Church and the wider community. Based at the ACMV Centre in Thornbury, this role offers an opportunity to bring strong administrative and organisational skills to a ministry centred on faith, culture, community, hospitality and reconciliation.

Summary:

The Administrator for the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry Victoria (ACMV) plays a vital role in supporting the organisation's mission to serve Aboriginal communities through faith-based initiatives. This part-time position involves administrative duties that ensure the smooth operation of the ministry, fostering community engagement and collaboration. The successful candidate will contribute to the overall effectiveness of ACMV, helping to promote its values and objectives within the community.

Responsibilities:

- Provide high-quality administrative support to the ACMV Coordinator and Engagement Officer and contribute to the effective day-to-day operation of the ACMV Centre.
- Be a welcoming and skilled point of contact for community members, visitors, parishes, schools, volunteers and other ACMV partners.
- Manage incoming calls, enquiries and correspondence, providing accurate information and appropriately directing enquiries.
- Maintain community contact lists and support the distribution of communications in accordance with Archdiocesan processes.




- Assist in organising and coordinating meetings, gatherings, events and other ACMV activities.
- Prepare internal communications, correspondence, memos, reports and other administrative documentation as required.
- Support the planning and delivery of ACMV Centre initiatives, including Masses, prayer gatherings, workshops, education activities and tours.
- Assist the Coordinator with grant submissions and related administrative requirements.
- Monitor maintenance matters, record issues and assist with coordinating building services visits to the ACMV Centre.
- Ensure that professional standards and safeguarding requirements are incorporated into programs and offerings to ensure the safety, protection and well-being of staff, students, and visitors to ACMV initiatives.
- Take reasonable care to protect the health and safety of self, fellow staff and others in the workplace.

You will be an organised, approachable and dependable person who enjoys supporting others and contributing to a welcoming and community-focused environment.

You will bring:

·Experience in administration or a similar support role, with strong organisational and time-management skills.

·Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing responsibilities and work with an appropriate level of autonomy.

·Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to engage warmly and professionally with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

·Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel,



PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.

·A professional and friendly manner, together with discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information.

·An understanding of, or willingness to deepen your understanding of, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and contemporary experiences.

·The capacity to engage respectfully and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities and to contribute positively to a culturally safe environment.

·An understanding of and respect for the mission, values and teachings of the Catholic Church, together with a willingness to contribute to the particular mission and purpose of Aboriginal Catholic Ministry Victoria.
