Position Title: Panel Beater

Salary Range: $79,500 to $110,000 per year

About the Role

Banksmeadow Prestige Smash Repairs Pty Ltd trading as Paddington Prestige Smash Repairs is looking for a full-time Panel Beater.

The Panel Beater will be responsible for restoring vehicles to their original condition by repairing damage to metal, plastic, aluminium, and fibreglass bodywork. This includes assessing vehicle damage, determining appropriate repair methods, and using specialised tools and equipment to carry out high-quality repairs.

Key Duties

- Assess vehicles to determine extent of damage and recommend suitable repair procedures

- Use, maintain and perform minor repairs on workplace tools and equipment, ensuring faulty items are clearly labelled and reported

- Provide good and professional customer service related to vehicle repairs

- Test and replace batteries by carrying out servicing, removing, replacing, testing, charging and jump starting vehicles

- Perform welding, thermal cutting, and heating operations as required for body repairs

- Clean and prepare vehicle components for repair or storage using mechanical or chemical methods

- Repair body panels using panel beating, split repairs, heat shrinking, metal finishing and body filler techniques





- Conduct minor structural repairs including reforming, welding, and manual measurement of body panels

- Replace or repair major welded panels as necessary

- Correct misalignment of vehicle structures and panels

- Use specialised equipment to measure and verify vehicle body alignment

- Replace or repair sections of vehicles with significant damage, ensuring structural integrity

- Remove and replace body panels, sections and ancillary fittings in readiness for repairs/painting

- Carry out the removal and replacement /fit decals, transfers and protector mouldings

- Remove and replace units or assemblies such as headlights, tail light, suspension assemblies, final drives, electrical components, computer control units to facilitate body repair activities

Skills & Requirements

- Completion of relevant trade qualification or work experience in lieu

- Knowledge and application of secure working procedures in the motor vehicle industry

- Ability to use a wide range of hand and power tools

- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

- Good communication and customer service skills

- Knowledge of current workplace health and safety issues affecting the industry
