The role of the Kitchenhand is to assist the Kitchen Supervisor and Cook in providing a nutritious, wide-ranging and quality food service to young people and staff of the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre.

As a Kitchenhand, you will specifically:
Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Assist in the preparation and provision of nutritious and diverse meals to young persons and staff.




Adherence to the security and safety of the Youth Detention Centre by observance of operational procedures and standards as they impact on kitchen processes and procedures.
Maintain a hygienic, safe and secure working setting, including cleanliness of work areas and kitchen equipment.
Assist in the control of stores and provisions.
Contribute to an effective system of stock control, e.g. recording and stock takes.
Undertake administrative procedures in the food services area, including procedures for ordering, storing and distributing stores.

Applications to remain current for 12 months.
