About The Role
This position is responsible for providing therapeutic and healing service response to the diverse needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, women, and men who are victims/survivors of sexual assault.
The Therapist will apply culturally safe approaches and holistic healing principles, and this work is underpinned by VACCA's Cultural Therapeutic Ways framework (CTW), culture, connection, and healing.
About You
Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA's vision and purpose
Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of intergenerational trauma and the importance of impacts of Aboriginal cultural healing approaches.
Knowledge of family-focused approaches to healing and responding to trauma.
An understanding of child development and the impact of trauma and sexual assault on children and young people.
Desirable
A tertiary qualification and or significant experience in similar role




An understanding of relevant legislation and professional guidelines (including children and young people at risk, MARAM, Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme, Child Information Sharing Scheme, relevant professional Code of Ethics and Practice Standards, and privacy requirements)
Requirements
Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
