Cruise Control Group
Victoria
Job Description
Full Time-Remote| Monday to Friday, AEST business hours
Location
New South Wales or Victoria, working from home.
Head office is Brisbane; this role is deliberately based outside Queensland.
Regular travel to dealerships across NSW and VIC; occasional trips to Brisbane
Cruise Control Group is looking for its first dedicated Chief Commercial Officer to lead new business across Recent South Wales and Victoria — the two biggest dealer markets in Australia, and largely untouched by the business to date.
This is a hunter's role with a leader's title: in year one, most of your time is spent personally opening and closing dealer groups using your own network and our in-house prospect engine, before shaping and leading the sales team that follows.
About Cruise Control Group
Cruise Control Group is Australia's first offshoring company built exclusively for motor dealers.
We place trained Remote Professionals from the Philippines into the back-office roles dealerships struggle hardest to fill — deal processing, accounts and finance administration, and service and parts support — with a growing service call-centre product.
Everything we do is automotive: our training, processes and people are built around how a dealership actually runs.
The founders come from the Australian dealer network, and the business is guided by an advisory board of senior dealer-group leadership.
We placed our first Remote Professional in January **** and have grown to thirty across multiple dealer groups on the founders' own relationships alone, without a dedicated salesperson — and the pipeline is already bigger than the founders can work.
About the Role
The Chief Commercial Officer owns the commercial side of Cruise Control: how many dealerships we sign and how many Remote Professionals we place each month.
It is the first dedicated selling role in the business, and the seat from which the sales function will be built.
The role reports to the Founder & CEO and works closely with the COO day to day.
In the first year, most of your time goes to opening and closing dealer groups personally — working an existing network first, and the company's in-house prospect engine every day.
As placements grow, the role shifts to shaping and leading the team that follows.
Where the role ends matters as much as where it starts: the finish line is a signed agreement and a captured brief handed to the recruitment team, so your time stays on the next win rather than on delivery.
This role is home-based in New South Wales or Victoria,
with regular travel to dealerships across those states and occasional trips to the Brisbane head office.
It is deliberately based outside Queensland, in the markets it exists to open up.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Through Your Own Network (~70%)
Map the dealer groups and rooftops across NSW and VIC where you already hold relationships at dealer principal, general manager or CFO level, and work that list from week one
Open and close dealer groups from single rooftops to national groups: run the discovery conversation, present the model, handle objections, and bring the agreement to signature
Capture the role brief for each placement and hand it to recruitment cleanly
Keep the focus on motor — adjacent markets are in view for later, but this role stays on dealerships for the foreseeable future
Building the Commercial Function (~20%, Growing)
Design the sales team that follows you: a caller working the reverse-marketing list, further business development hires by state, and the commission structures that go with them
Coordinate with existing business development resources so there is one commercial plan, not several
Write the playbook as you go — what a first call sounds like, what a good discovery meeting covers, how a proposal is priced and closed — so the next hire inherits a method rather than a blank page
Campaigns and Market Presence (~5%)
Run outbound calling campaigns at dealer-principal level into the larger motor groups, and the email programme to the dealer database every two to three weeks
Represent Cruise Control at industry events and with industry bodies, with the founders alongside for the big ones
Build Cruise Control's name in NSW and VIC the way the founders have built it in Queensland
Pipeline Discipline and Reporting (~5%)
Weekly pipeline review with the founders: calls made, appointments set, proposals out, agreements signed, Remote Professionals placed
Supply the commercial numbers for the monthly board update
Own the forecast — the board's target is a placement rate well above what the founders can deliver alone, agreed at offer and tracked monthly
What We're Looking For
Requirements
An established network of Australian dealership decision-makers in NSW and/or VIC that you can leverage straight away — current relationships at dealer principal, general manager or CFO level, and the ability to name the groups you'd call in your first month
Based in New South Wales or Victoria, with the ability to work from home and travel regularly to dealerships and occasionally to the Brisbane head office
Years of dealer-facing selling, having carried a number and opened new accounts from nothing, with results to show for it
Consultative selling experience with owner-operators rather than product selling to buyers
Real fluency with a CRM and modern AI tools — you don't need to build any of it, but you run it without being chased
Self-directed and comfortable working from home, the car and dealership car parks, with no one checking your calendar
Comfortable in a growth-stage company: small team, fast decisions, no layers between you and the people who can say yes
Right to work in Australia, current driver's licence and your own vehicle
Preferred Qualifications
A background that put you in front of dealers for a living: manufacturer field or regional roles, dealer-group senior management, automotive finance, or automotive services sold rooftop to rooftop
Experience selling into the back office or fixed operations side of a dealership rather than only the showroom
Exposure to offshoring, outsourced services or managed services, on either side of the table
Having built or led a sales team, or a territory, from a standing start
Why Join Cruise Control
The first dedicated commercial leader in a business that has reached thirty placements on the founders' relationships alone
A prospect engine that already exists — every dealership job ad in Australia, scored and enriched, on your desk every morning
A clean handoff model: you sell, specialist teams recruit, onboard and manage
The two biggest dealer markets in the country, wide open, and a product every dealer principal is already thinking about
A founder-team seat: direct line to the CEO and COO, fast decisions, and the remit to build the function the way you would build it
Remuneration
Base salary plus superannuation, with uncapped commission paid on every Remote Professional placed and a higher rate on new clients.
Travel expenses are covered.
The structure is designed so that a strong year here beats a strong year in a manufacturer or finance-company role.
Full details are discussed at interview.
Reports to
(Founder & CEO); works day to day with (COO)
Remuneration
Base salary plus uncapped commission on every placement.
