About the Chance

We are seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Senior Accountant to join our growing professional services business in Perth CBD.
n
This is more than a traditional Senior Accountant position. We are looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career within the business, with a genuine pathway toward management responsibility and potential equity participation for the right person.

You will work closely with senior leadership and have the opportunity to take ownership of clients, develop your commercial skills and contribute to the continued growth of the business.
n
The successful candidate will be technically robust, commercially aware and motivated to progress beyond a purely technical accounting role.

The Role
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Managing a portfolio of clients and providing high-quality accounting and advisory services.
n
Preparing and reviewing financial statements, management accounts and tax returns.
n
Preparing and reviewing business and individual tax returns.
n
Providing taxation and accounting advice to clients.
n
Assisting clients with business structures, budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management.
n
Reviewing work prepared by junior accountants and providing technical guidance.
n
Supporting and mentoring junior team members.
n
Managing client relationships and being a trusted point of contact.
n
Identifying opportunities to improve client outcomes and grow the firm's services.
n
Assisting with business development and new client opportunities.
n
Working closely with senior management on strategic and operational matters.
n
Contributing to systems, processes and continuous improvement across the business.
n
Taking increasing responsibility for team leadership and management as the role develops.
n

About You
n

You will ideally have:

Several years' experience in public practice or a similar professional accounting environment.
n
Strong technical accounting and taxation knowledge.
n
Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
n
The ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines independently.

Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
n
Experience reviewing work and mentoring junior accountants.
n
A proactive approach to problem-solving.
n
Confidence communicating with business owners and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications
n
Essential:
n
n
CA or CPA qualification, or substantial progress toward qualification.
n
Relevant Australian accounting experience.
n
Strong knowledge of Australian accounting and taxation requirements.
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
n
n
Desirable:
n
n
Experience in a public practice accounting firm.
n
Experience managing a portfolio of SME clients.
n
Experience with Xero and other cloud accounting platforms.

Experience with tax and accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, HandiTax, BGL or
