About the Organisation
Our client is an established Australian-owned manufacturer supplying specialised products and solutions into power, infrastructure and renewable energy markets across Australia and internationally.
Employing around 200 people, the business has end-to-end capability spanning product development, testing, manufacturing and distribution.
It is continuing to invest in its operations, technology, automation and people as it enters its next stage of growth.
With a strong operational foundation and an experienced leadership team, this is an opportunity to join a business where production, safety, quality and people leadership are all closely connected.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this newly created Production Supervisor position will take ownership of the day-to-day running of the afternoon shift, coordinating people, materials and production priorities to keep operations running safely, efficiently and consistently.
With a strong focus on safety, quality and team performance, you'll provide visible frontline leadership, support your team and ensure issues are addressed or escalated appropriately.
You will directly lead two experienced Leading Hands and work closely with the broader operations team to maintain production standards, support your people and deliver against shift priorities.
We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships with their team, make sound decisions,
manage day-to-day people matters and create an environment where employees feel supported while remaining accountable for performance.
You will initially complete a structured onboarding and shadowing period alongside an experienced Production Manager, giving you the opportunity to understand the people, processes, systems and expectations of the business before taking full ownership of the afternoon shift, Monday-Friday between 2:30 pm-11:30 pm.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership and direction across afternoon shift production operations
Lead, support and develop two Leading Hands and their respective production teams
Ensure production data, ERP transactions, job sheets, labour reporting and shift records are completed accurately and on time
Coordinate production scheduling and workflow using internal planning and scheduling systems
Coordinate labour, materials, equipment and production priorities to ensure shift targets are achieved safely and efficiently
Support employee training, competency development and adherence to standard work instructions
Lead effective shift communication and handovers, ensuring priorities, production risks and expectations are clearly understood
Maintain strong standards across workplace safety, quality, environmental and operational compliance
Identify and resolve production issues and make practical decisions at shift level
Work closely with all stakeholders to resolve production issues and risks
Escalate significant issues appropriately while taking ownership of matters that can be effectively resolved within the shift
About You
While previous production leadership experience is important, how you lead people will be equally important to your success in this role.
You are approachable, adaptable and confident working with a range of people across the production team, be comfortable asking questions, making practical decisions and building robust, trusted relationships with the people around you.
You can balance production priorities with solid people leadership, setting clear expectations, communicating openly and creating a positive environment where the team can perform at its best.
To succeed in this role, you will ideally bring:
Previous experience supervising or leading people within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment
A proactive, collaborative and hands-on leadership style, with the ability to engage, support and coach others
Confidence managing day-to-day employee matters including attendance, performance and behavioural matters, working with HR where required
Experience using ERP/MRP or similar production planning and manufacturing systems to support scheduling and operational decision-making
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
Experience working within a continuous improvement manufacturing environment will be highly regarded
