About The Role
As a Consultation Liaison Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting the mental health care of patients within Barwon Health's bed-based generalist settings.
Working directly with patients and their families, you will provide expert mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) assessment, risk assessment and evidence-based interventions.
You will also work closely with generalist staff, providing clinical guidance, education and support to build their capacity to recognise and respond to the mental health needs of patients.
This is a dynamic and collaborative role where you will act as an important link between hospital and mental health services, supporting coordinated, recovery-oriented and person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive mental health, psychosocial, AOD and risk assessments, along with evidence-based brief interventions.
Develop collaborative care plans with patients, families, caregivers and multidisciplinary teams.
Provide clinical guidance, education and support to generalist staff caring for patients with mental health needs.
Facilitate effective clinical handovers, referrals and linkages with internal and external services.
Contribute to quality improvement, clinical policy development and the ongoing improvement of mental health care across the organisation.
What We're Looking For
Formal recognised qualifications in Mental Health Nursing,
including a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
Significant experience in mental health and AOD assessment and treatment.
Advanced clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of people experiencing mental health and substance use disorders.
Strong communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to provide clinical leadership and education to others.
Experience or postgraduate qualifications in clinical practice and/or leadership will be highly regarded.
