About the role
n
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop modular, readable and robust code for defence systems adhering to security and functional requirements in C++ and other embedded programming languages.

What the role will involve
n
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
n
n
Develop modular, readable and robust code for defence systems adhering to security and functional requirements in C++ and other embedded programming languages.
n
Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, systems design, agile development, review, test-driven development, integration, and verification.
n
Presenting design details during design reviews to a mix of participants with and without software engineering knowledge.
n
Collaborate effectively with both software and other engineering disciplines as well as management, to ensure comprehensive coverage of requirements as efficiently as possible.
n
Write and maintain both internal and deliverable documentation.
n
Provide Engineering support to manufacturing as required.
n
Participate in internal and external demonstration activities for the purpose of sharing knowledge.
n
Maintain a continuous improvement mindset.
n

What you'll bring
n
The role requires the following experience and skills:
n
n
An active Commonwealth Security Clearance
n
Degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar.
n
4+ years' experience in similar role.
n
n
Ability to read and review schematics, and work collaboratively with hardware engineers on designs.
n
n
Experience in developing software for microcontrollers in C++ on bare metal or with RTOS.
n
Working with low level communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN etc.
n
Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to development processes.
n
n
Desirable Requirements
n
n
Experience in developing firmware in VHDL and/or Verilog for FPGAs.
n
Experience in using and building software for embedded Linux.
