High Risk Trainer & Assessor – FIFO & Metro Perth

About the Role
n
We are seeking an experienced and motivated High Risk Trainer & Assessor to join our growing training team in Western Australia.
n
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and industry-experienced trainer who enjoys a varied role, combining FIFO delivery at client and mine sites with training and assessment across Metro Perth.
n
You will deliver high-quality, practical and compliant training and assessment to workers and employers across a range of high risk work and related training programs.
n
The successful candidate will have strong industry knowledge, excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to workplace safety, competency-based training and positive learner outcomes.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Deliver high-quality training and assessment in accordance with relevant training packages, units of competency, regulatory requirements and RTO policies.
n
Conduct practical and theory-based training and assessment at Metro Perth facilities and FIFO/client sites throughout Western Australia.
n
Deliver training in a professional, engaging and safety-focused manner.
n
Assess participants fairly, consistently and in accordance with approved assessment tools.
n
Provide clear, constructive feedback and support participants to achieve competency.
n
Maintain accurate training, assessment and participant records.
n
Complete all required documentation, including assessment records and training evidence.
n
Liaise professionally with clients, site representatives, supervisors and participants.
n
Travel to regional and remote work sites as required.
n
Participate in validation, moderation and continuous improvement activities.
n
Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, WHS requirements, industry practices and VET compliance obligations.
n
Ensure all training and assessment activities meet applicable Western Australian regulatory and industry requirements.
n

High Risk Work Scope
n
Experience and current competency in one or more of the following High Risk Work Licence areas will be highly regarded:
n
n
TLILIC**** – Licence to operate a forklift truck (LF)
n
TLILIC**** – Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (WP)
n
TLILIC**** – Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (C2)
n
TLILIC**** – Licence to operate a non-slewing mobile crane (CN)
n
TLILIC**** – Licence to operate a vehicle loading crane (CV)
n
TLILIC**** – Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (C6)
n
TLILIC**** – Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (C0)
n
Dogging, rigging and scaffolding qualifications and/or relevant training experience will also be highly regarded.
n

Qualifications & Experience
n
Essential
n
n
Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE*****, TAE*****, TAE***** or approved
equivalent/successor),
or an appropriate higher-level VET/adult education qualification.
n
Current and relevant industry experience and vocational competency in the high risk work areas you will deliver.
n
Relevant current High Risk Work Licence(s) and/or industry credentials applicable to your training scope.
n
Demonstrated experience delivering training and assessment to adult learners.
n
Sound understanding of competency-based training and assessment.
n
Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety and safe operating practices.
n
Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a professional training team.
n
Ability and willingness to travel to FIFO and regional/remote sites.
n
Current Western Australian driver's licence.
n
Ability to satisfy site access, medical, drug and alcohol and other client-specific requirements.
n

Desirable
n
n
Experience delivering training within the mining, construction, resources, logistics or heavy industry sectors.
n
Experience working across FIFO mining and resource projects.
n
Multiple High Risk Work Licence classes.
n
Experience delivering associated units such as working at heights, confined space, gas test atmospheres,
dogging/rigging or other safety-related training.
n
Previous experience working within an RTO environment.
n
Knowledge of the Standards for RTOs **** and current VET compliance requirements.
n
Experience using online learning and assessment systems.
n
Experience working with learners from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
n

Scheduled training and assessment at our Perth-based facilities.

Client premises and metropolitan workplaces.

Practical assessments and refresher training.

Supporting local industry clients and individual participants.

FIFO / Regional & Remote
n
n
Travel to mine, construction and resource sites across Western Australia.
n
Delivering onsite training and assessment.
n
Working with client supervisors and site personnel.
n
Supporting workforce competency and compliance requirements.
n
FIFO rosters and travel arrangements will be discussed with suitable applicants and may vary depending on client requirements.
