SPORTS/MUSCULOSKELETAL PHYSIOTHERAPIST: SPORTS LAB

Double Bay, Sydney|Plus Head Physio Role with Sydney University AFL

Immediate Start|Full Time

Sports Lab is seeking an experienced Senior Sports or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist to join our well-established team, based at our Double Bay clinic with the flexibility to work across our other Sydney locations.
n
This role offers a genuinely varied caseload, a supportive and experienced team, and structured mentoring – with the added drawcard of taking over as Head Physiotherapist for Sydney University AFL for the remainder of the current season.

Your Role at Sports Lab
n

A genuinely diverse clinical caseload spanning musculoskeletal, sports and post-operative rehabilitation.
n
Based at our Double Bay clinic, with the opportunity to work across our other Sydney clinics (inner west and eastern suburbs) as needed.
n
Support from a close-knit team of experienced Sports, Musculoskeletal and Exercise Physiotherapists.
n
Structured mentoring available – whether you are looking to develop your own skills or want to mentor junior team members.
n
A well-established, highly-regarded practice with a strong reputation across Sydney's eastern suburbs and inner west.

n
As part of this role, you will take over as Head Physiotherapist for Sydney University AFL for the remainder of the current season – a outstanding opportunity to add high-level sports coverage experience to your clinical caseload.
n
n
Take over as Head Physiotherapist for the Sydney University AFL program for the remainder of the season, with the prospect of continuing into future seasons.
n
Work closely with the coaching team, providing pitch-side coverage, injury assessment,
and return-to-play management.
n
Oversee junior physiotherapists and trainers supporting the program.
n
Build your sports profile and network within semi-elite Australian Rules Football.
n

About You
n
n
A Senior Physiotherapist with experience in sports and/or musculoskeletal physiotherapy, ideally within private practice.
n
Confident working pitch-side and making real-time clinical decisions in a team sport environment.
n
An excellent communicator who builds strong relationships with patients, athletes, coaching staff and referring practitioners.
n
A team player who is willing to contribute to a positive clinic culture and, where appropriate, mentor junior staff.
n
Available to work Saturdays as part of your regular clinical schedule.
n
Open to travelling between Double Bay and our other Sydney clinics as required.
n

Essential Requirements
n
n
Minimum Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) or equivalent.
n
Full, current AHPRA registration.
n
Current CPR certification.
n
Current professional indemnity insurance.
n
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel between clinic sites.
n
Availability to work Saturdays.
n
n
Highly Regarded (Not Essential)
n
n
3+ years' physiotherapy experience and/or a relevant postgraduate qualification, particular interest in sports physiotherapy.
n
Prior experience in a team sport or sideline coverage role.
n
Excellent manual therapy skills.
n
Formal Pilates or clinical exercise training.
n
Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior staff.
n

Remuneration
n
Remuneration is structured as a base salary (in line with the Health Professionals and Support Services Award) plus performance-based commission, reviewed at six months and annually thereafter. A CPD allowance and standard employment benefits are included in the package.

Qualifications
n
n
Relevant tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy and current registration with the appropriate professional board or authority.
n
Demonstrated experience in sports physiotherapy, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and performance optimization, preferably in multidisciplinary settings.
n
Strong skills in patient assessment, treatment planning, manual therapy, and exercise-based rehabilitation, with a focus on evidence-informed practice.
n
Ability to collaborate effectively with professionals in related disciplines such as chiropractic, exercise physiology, podiatry, and nutrition to deliver integrated care.
n
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including patient education, goal setting, and documentation of clinical findings and outcomes.
n
Commitment to patient-centered care, cultural sensitivity, and maintaining high ethical and professional standards.
n
Experience supervising or mentoring less experienced clinicians and contributing to continuous improvement in clinical processes is highly valued.
n
Availability to work part-time on-site in Drummoyne, NSW; prior experience in private practice or sports clinic environments is an advantage.
