Role title: Clinical Nurse Consultant (Grade 3) - Heart & Lung Transplant Program
Role type: Permanent full time (38 hours per week)
Shift details: Monday to Friday + on call
Department and location: Heart Lung Clinical Stream , St Vincent's Public Hospital, Sydney
Salary: $158,****** - $161,****** + super.

About the role
Senior clinical leadership across the full heart and lung transplant pathway, from referral and assessment through transplantation, post-transplant care and end-of-life management.
Escalation point for Transplant Coordinators and multidisciplinary teams, supporting complex clinical decision-making, organ retrieval, procurement and transplant-related care.
Coordinate complex patient care across inpatient, outpatient and community settings, including pre-admission planning, discharge coordination and home-based therapies.
Lead education and workforce development, including specialty education,



competency assessment, mentoring and mandatory training for transplant and Heart & Lung Program staff.
Drive quality, safety and service improvement through evidence-based practice, clinical governance, audits, research, morbidity and mortality reviews, registry reporting and analysis of clinical and operational data.
Contribute to strategic leadership and service innovation by supporting operational planning, service redesign and strong partnerships with DonateLife, transplant services, Local Health Districts and community healthcare providers.
About you
Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency
Minimum seven years post-registration experience, including at least five years' experience in transplantation, advanced heart failure, advanced respiratory disease, cardiothoracic, intensive care, organ donation or a closely related specialty.
Postgraduate qualifications relevant to transplantation, advanced nursing practice, critical care, cardiothoracic, respiratory or organ donation services, or equivalent experience deemed appropriate.
Advanced clinical and leadership expertise in managing complex heart/lung disease and transplantation, with proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and make sound clinical decisions.
Strong workforce and service development capabilities, including staff education, competency assessment,



mentoring, quality improvement, research, clinical governance, policy development and service redesign.
Highly developed analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to use clinical and operational data to drive evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.
