About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager - Care, Governance & Quality, the Audit and Compliance Advisor is responsible for developing and maintaining the organisation's audit and assurance framework, providing independent oversight of compliance and governance systems, and supporting organisational readiness for regulatory review.
The successful candidate will apply a risk-based approach to assurance activities, identify emerging trends, and provide meaningful insights that strengthen governance, minimise organisational risk, and improve outcomes for residents, clients, and the community.
Key Responsibilities
Provide independent, organisation-wide assurance on compliance, quality, and safety risks, identifying and escalating material risks to senior leadership and governance committees.
Design, implement, maintain, and govern the enterprise audit and assurance framework aligned with the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, legislative requirements, and organisational risk priorities.
Lead risk-based and thematic audits to evaluate the effectiveness of governance, quality, and organisational control systems beyond service-level compliance.
Analyse intelligence from audits, incidents, complaints, clinical indicators, consumer feedback, and other assurance activities to identify emerging trends and systemic risks.
Prepare high-quality assurance reports for Executive Leadership, Quality Committees, and Board-level governance forums, providing insights into compliance maturity, risk exposure, and the effectiveness of mitigation strategies.
Coordinate organisational engagement with regulators, including preparation for external audits, regulatory submissions, evidence collection, remediation programs, and assurance reporting.
Provide expert interpretation and advice on relevant aged care legislation, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and governance expectations.
Contribute to the development of corrective and preventative actions that address root causes and demonstrate sustainable improvement rather than easy closure of actions.
