Position Details

THE ROLE

As part of its service provision mandate, the Department of Families Fairness and Housing is committed to providing secure and secure buildings for its staff and clients.



A critical part of this commitment is the development of a Fire Risk Management Strategy. Its goal is to meet, as a minimum, the standard of fire safety applicable to the wider community and to meet additional standards, where appropriate, to address the particular risks from the attributes of a particular client or client group.

The Fire Services Team is the central point for assessing and providing technical support for fire safety and regulatory compliance to Homes Victoria and the Department of Families Fairness and Housing and focuses on providing safe and secure buildings for all department-owned, operated, or funded facilities in Victoria. It also ensures compliance with relevant statutory Acts, regulations, and fire safety guidelines.

The Principal Project Lead is a key role in the Fire Services Team and works across all areas of the team from leading Capital Upgrade Projects to developing key technical advisory notes on compliance with the department's Capital Development Guidelines – Series 7. The role works closely with the manager of the team and leads the teams significant projects. The role is highly technical and is suitable for someone with a high degree of fire safety and fire services technical knowledge. The Principal Project Lead role will work alongside the manager and other Senior Project Managers, Fire Safety Engineers and Fire Services Coordinators in the team

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE





- Manage and oversee the full life cycle of fire services team projects to meet departmental objectives
- Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
- Provide leadership, guidance and authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
