Description :
- Take ownership in a high-calibre team with significant career potential
- Seeking 2-7 years experience in renewable energy project development in AU
- Melbourne or Sydney - Hybrid Office Hours
Phillip Riley is partnering with a newly established, well-capitalised renewable energy platform to appoint a Development Manager as it builds out a high-calibre project development team in Australia.
This is an opportunity to join at an exciting stage of growth, with the backing, capital and ambition to build a significant portfolio of utility-scale wind, solar and battery storage projects.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced development leaders and play a meaningful role in shaping projects from early-stage origination and feasibility through planning, approvals, stakeholder engagement and grid connection.
Why this role? This is not a role where you'll simply inherit a portfolio and manage a process.
You'll join while the platform is still being built, giving you the prospect to:
- Help shape a new renewable energy development platform
- Work across the full project development lifecycle
- Contribute to the origination and development of a growing national pipeline
- Work closely with senior decision-makers and experienced development professionals
- Gain exposure to both project development and investment strategy
- Take genuine ownership of projects and see your work translate into major energy infrastructure
- Join a business with the capital and long-term ambition to grow
The Role:
As Development Manager or Assistant Development Manager, you will support the identification,
assessment and progression of renewable energy projects across Australia.
Working within a small, collaborative team, you will coordinate multiple aspects of project development and work closely with internal stakeholders, landowners, communities, consultants, regulators and technical advisors.
Your responsibilities will include:
Project Development & Feasibility
- Support early-stage site identification and project feasibility
- Coordinate preliminary technical and development assessments
- Contribute to project development strategy and sequencing
Planning & Approvals
- Coordinate planning, environmental and other statutory approvals
- Manage external consultants and technical advisors
- Identify and manage development risks and approval pathways
Land, Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Develop constructive relationships with landowners and key stakeholders
- Support community and government engagement
- Assist with land access negotiations and project-related agreements
Grid & Commercial
- Support grid connection activities and technical studies
- Contribute to project business cases and commercial assessments
- Assist with consultant procurement, project reporting and development budgets
About You:
We're looking for a renewable energy development professional who enjoys working in a high-performing, collaborative environment and wants to have an impact. We are happy to consider more junior candidates who are seeking to contribute and learn.
You will ideally bring:
- 2-7+ years' experience in renewable energy project development in Australia
- Experience across one or more of wind, solar or BESS
- Exposure to planning, environmental approvals and/or grid connection processes
- Experience working with landowners, communities, consultants and government stakeholders
- Strong project coordination and commercial awareness
- The ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, planning, environmental science, business or a related discipline
- Full working rights in Australia
Why Join?
This is a particularly attractive opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond simply managing individual projects and play a part in building something from the ground up.
You'll have access to experienced leadership, institutional backing and a growing pipeline, while retaining the opportunity to influence how the platform develops.
There is also significant scope for career progression as the team and portfolio grow.
Sydney or Melbourne.
