About
We are a fashion design and production agency based in Orange, NSW, working with a diverse range of emerging and established fashion brands. We partner closely with founders and design teams to bring collections to life — from concept through to production — with a strong focus on fit, quality, and commercial outcomes.
We are now looking for a Freelance Garment Technician and Fit Specialist to work alongside the founder and support multiple clients across a variety of categories.
The Role
This is a flexible, freelance role, ideal for an experienced garment technician who enjoys variety, autonomy, and working across different brands and product types.
You will be responsible for the technical development, fit, and refinement of garments from prototype through to bulk approval.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and update tech packs, including specs, measurements, construction details, and BOMs
- Prepare accurate graded specs for tech packs
- Measure samples accurately and prepare garments for fit sessions
- Attend occasional in-person fit sessions (Orange NSW or as agreed) and provide clear, detailed fit feedback
- Record and translate fit notes into concise technical amendments for off-shore factories
- Engineer garments for consistent fit, quality, and manufacturability across sizes
- Work across a broad range of womenswear categories including wovens, knits, denim, dresses, tops and bottoms
- Liaise directly with offshore factories and sample machinists to resolve fit and construction issues
- Support progression from proto to PP to bulk, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met
- Assist with pre-production and post-production QC checks as required
About You
- 3+ years’ experience as a Garment Technician, Fit Specialist or Product Developer (flexible for the right candidate)
- Strong understanding of womenswear fit and garment construction across multiple categories
- Confident running fit sessions and making explicit, commercial fit decisions
- Solid pattern and technical knowledge (pattern-making experience highly regarded but not essential)
- Ability to create clear, factory-ready tech packs and graded specs
- Comfortable communicating with offshore manufacturers
- Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple styles and brands
- Proficient in Excel and Illustrator
- Australian work rights
Why Work With Us
- Flexible freelance working arrangement
- Work from home, with occasional in-person fittings
- Exposure to multiple brands and product categories
- Prospect to work closely with founders and creative teams
- Supportive, collaborative working relationship
- Ideal for someone based in regional NSW or seeking flexible technical work alongside other commitments
