Instrument/Electronic Technician

Delphi Measurement, a progressive sensor manufacturer on the Gold Coast has an opportunity for a highly motivated Instrument and/or Electronic Technician with relevant technical expertise.

This is a contract position with the aim being to develop hardware and procedures for our range automated lasers and training existing production team members in their use. The initial period envisaged is six months with possible extension for a further six months if targets are being met.

We are seeking an experienced Automation & Laser Technician to program, run, and optimize our advanced marking and cutting cells. This role involves managing automated production workflows that integrate Universal Robots (UR) cobots with processes used in manufacturing of loadcells, including Laser welding strain gauge placement and material surface preparation.

In addition, component cutting and marking is carried out with premium laser systems, specifically the Lotus Meta C 3D MOPA Fiber laser and the Epilog Fusion series (CO2 and Fiber) workstations. You will oversee part-handling automation, asset programming, and routine production runs to ensure precise engraving, marking, and cutting across multiple material types.

Key Responsibilities:

- Program, configure, and optimize Universal Robots (UR) paths and logic using Polyscope for machine tending and automated part loading/unloading.

- Set up, program, and operate Lotus Meta C 3D Fiber lasers and Epilog Fusion series flatbed/galvo laser systems.

- Configure laser parameters, vector cutting paths, 3-axis geometries, and MOPA waveforms for diverse materials.

- Manage signal integration, handshaking, and hardware interfaces between the UR cobots, laser workstations, rotary attachments,



and PLCs.

- Troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain optical alignments, lens cleanliness, focal heights, and mechanical/electrical components on all machinery.

- Create and import graphic files, 3D surface files, and serialization data using industrial laser software and vector design tools.

- Document processes and programs, and train production team members on running the various machines to complete production tasks.

- Assist in the design of hardware to complete production tasks.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Proven experience programming and operating Universal Robots (UR) collaborative arms.

- Solid background operating and configuring industrial lasers, including Epilog Fusion systems and fiber galvo markers.

- Proficiency with laser control software, print drivers, and graphic software (e.g., CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, CAD packages).

- Experience handling diverse materials, including metals, plastics, acrylics, and coated substrates.

- Strong understanding of industrial communications protocols, digital/analogue I/O interfacing, and sensor integration.

- Familiarity with cobot safety standards and laser safety protocols (Class 1 and Class 4 enclosures).

- Strong organizational and documentation skills with the ability to develop and document automated production tasks.

A working knowledge of loadcells is desirable but not mandatory. Calibration experience is highly valued especially within NATA accredited facilities.

Other General Tasks include

- Design & fabricate basic circuit boards, power supplies, wireless systems, cables & housings to suit.

- Programming of digital indicators & other components

- Calibrate load cells & other sensors with a variety of associated components

- Onsite commissioning if required

To succeed in this role you will have experience in one or more of the following areas

- Production setting using robotics

- Electronic manufacturing

- Service/repair background in instruments or instrument systems

- Industrial Process Control

Remuneration is dependent on experience with competitive manufacturing pay rates. Normal working week is 38hrs.
