Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. Be at the heart of one of the busiest and most dynamic areas of Nepean Hospital. Join our Emergency Department as an Emergency Clerk and play a vital role in supporting patients, families and clinical teams in a fast-paced 24/7 environment.
As an Emergency Department Clerk, you will provide efficient administrative and customer service support to help ensure the smooth operation of the department. Working across all Emergency Department workstations, you will support patient registration, admissions, transfers and discharges, patient flow coordination, record management, financial processing and communication support. You will also contribute to maintaining accurate patient information and ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive and collaborative team while contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care. Successful applicants will work a rotating roster across morning, day, afternoon and night shifts, providing consistent clerical coverage to the department.

What you will bring to the role
1. Demonstrated experience providing high-quality frontline customer service in a busy environment, including the ability to manage challenging situations,
resolve issues and respond appropriately to the needs of patients, visitors and stakeholders.
2. Demonstrated experience using effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to build positive working relationships and communicate with a diverse range of people in a professional and respectful manner.
3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to shared goals while maintaining responsibility for individual tasks and outcomes.
4. Demonstrated experience using computerised information systems for data entry, record management and administrative processes, with a strong focus on accuracy, attention to detail and data quality.
5. Demonstrated ability to organise, prioritise and adapt work activities in a fast-paced setting with competing demands, frequent interruptions and changing priorities while maintaining service standards.
6. Demonstrated experience working under pressure to meet key performance indicators, deadlines and operational requirements, while maintaining accuracy, professionalism and customer service standards.
7. Demonstrated understanding of the importance of confidentiality, privacy and information security, with experience handling sensitive information in accordance with organisational policies and legislative requirements.
8. Demonstrated flexibility, reliability and commitment to supporting a 24-hour service, including the ability to work rotating shifts and respond to changing operational needs.
