About the Role

This role supports second line operational risk oversight across Business & Private Banking. It is suited to a developing but capable risk professional who can perform hands-on risk work, support targeted reviews, analyse evidence, test controls and prepare clear risk outputs. The role requires practical risk judgement, curiosity, attention to detail and the ability to build SME knowledge across different business areas rather than operating in a narrow lane.

What will your day look like?

- Support second line reviews of risks, controls, issues, incidents, remediation plans and risk acceptances across Business & Private Banking.
- Complete testing activities, including gathering populations, selecting samples, reviewing evidence and documenting results clearly.
- Analyse control design and operating effectiveness, escalating gaps where controls are not clear, complete, repeatable or evidenced.
- Review first line risk assessments, control assessments and issue material to identify gaps, inconsistencies and unsupported conclusions.
- Use event, complaint, control, issue and business data to identify themes, trends and potential emerging risks.
- Prepare concise risk summaries, findings, challenge points and recommendations for review by senior risk leaders.
- Support issue and remediation oversight, including review of root cause, action design, milestone delivery and closure evidence.




- Build SME knowledge across key Business & Private Banking areas, including products, deposits, wealth, onboarding, servicing, complaints and customer journeys.
- Work with stakeholders across risk, business, operations, product, technology and compliance to gather facts and understand end-to-end impacts.
- Maintain accurate documentation, audit trail and evidence to support second line oversight and defensible risk opinions.

What will you bring?

- Experience in operational risk, compliance, audit, assurance, control testing, issue management or related financial services risk work.
- Hands-on experience performing or supporting risk reviews, control testing, sampling, walkthroughs, evidence gathering and finding documentation.
- Good understanding of non-financial risk, operational risk, controls, issues, incidents, risk assessments and remediation concepts.
- Ability to test whether a control works in practice, not just whether a process exists on paper.
- Strong analytical ability, including reviewing samples, identifying patterns and separating fact from assumption.
- Curiosity and willingness to build SME knowledge across different portfolios and customer journeys.
- Ability to write clearly and simply, with practical findings and recommendations that can be acted on.
- Sound judgement to know when to escalate gaps, weak evidence, customer impact or unresolved risk exposure.
- Comfort working across multiple areas and switching between detailed testing,



risk analysis, stakeholder engagement and governance support.
- Strong attention to detail, ownership and follow-through, with a focus on producing risk work that is accurate, useful and defensible.
