HVAC Technician | Learn BMS & Controls
Bored of just doing HVAC?
If you're a commercial HVAC technician who wants to add BMS and controls experience to your skillset, this is an chance worth looking at.
We're recruiting an HVAC Service Technician for a specialist HVAC business with a growing presence across Sydney.
You'll still be an HVAC technician on the tools - but you'll be working on specialist, controls-heavy HVAC equipment and trained to understand the BMS controlling it.
It's a chance to broaden your technical skillset without having to already be a BMS technician.
Learn more than just HVAC
The business has its own BMS and controls capability, and technicians are actively trained in it.
You'll receive structured training covering the BMS fundamentals, controls and fault finding, alongside ongoing controls training throughout the year.
Over time, you'll learn how to use the BMS to diagnose issues, remotely access sites and understand what's happening across the complete HVAC system rather than only looking at the mechanical equipment.
If you've wanted to get some controls experience but keep finding that companies want you to already have it - this could be your way in.
The role
You'll be carrying out service, maintenance and fault finding across specialist commercial HVAC systems throughout Sydney.
The equipment is predominantly packaged modular systems incorporating multiple VRVs, AHUs and associated controls, so it's a little different from your standard commercial service round.
A large proportion of the Sydney work is around Western Sydney, particularly the Kemps Creek and Horsley Park areas, although you'll work across Sydney as required.
There's also an on-call component, but it's different to the usual setup.
A lot can be diagnosed remotely through the BMS from home. Where a physical attendance is required, a subcontractor can be sent to site with you providing technical support remotely.
What's on offer?
- Starting around $110k + super, with flexibility for stronger experience
- Company vehicle OR vehicle allowance
- Fuel card
- Toll tag
- Ongoing BMS & controls training
- Further technical training and courses supported
- Specialist HVAC equipment
- Opportunity to broaden your skillset beyond traditional HVAC service
- Time off in lieu for applicable weekend works
This probably won't suit someone whose main priority is chasing as many overtime hours as possible.
It will suit someone who values a solid salary, technical development and the opportunity to build skills that can open up different directions later in their career.
What we're looking for
We're looking for a qualified HVAC technician with solid commercial service experience.
You don't need previous BMS or controls experience - that's the point.
What matters more is that you're technically curious, comfortable fault finding and genuinely interested in learning another side of the industry.
Senior technicians are particularly encouraged to apply, with opportunities for experienced people to take more responsibility within the Sydney team.
Interested?
If you're happy doing exactly the same HVAC work you're doing now, this probably isn't the move for you.
But if you've been thinking about BMS, controls or adding another technical string to your bow, it's worth a conversation.
Apply now or get in touch for a confidential chat about the role.
