About the role
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, you will lead GKB's community-facing engagement activities and provide cultural guidance on respectful and effective engagement approaches. You will help build understanding, trust and support for GKB, while ensuring community views and needs inform organisational programs, decisions and priorities. You will lead Community Engagement Officers, develop community-focused programs, coordinate events and forums, support funding opportunities and represent GKB at community meetings and external events.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with Traditional Owners, community leaders, stakeholder organisations and commercial partners.
- Act as a trusted liaison between GKB and the GKB/Noongar community.
- Provide strategic leadership and support to the Community Engagement Officers.
- Create opportunities and connections for GKB/Noongar-owned businesses where appropriate.
- Design and manage community-focused programs aligned with GKB's Strategic Plan, community needs and approved budgets.
- Support initiatives across health, wellbeing, education, housing, economic development and cultural preservation.
- Seek funding for community programs and manage grant acquittals and performance reporting.
- Work collaboratively across GKB to support successful and coordinated program delivery.
- Lead clear, open and respectful communication with GKB members and the community.
- Develop communication materials that inform and engage the GKB/Noongar community.
About you
- Experience working with Traditional Owners and building culturally sensitive relationships based on mutual respect; Noongar experience is preferred.
- Tertiary qualifications in community development, communications, community engagement or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining high-value stakeholder relationships.
- Strong presentation, facilitation and public-speaking skills.
- Experience preparing funding proposals and grant applications.
- Demonstrated experience planning and delivering programs, initiatives and projects.
- Highly developed writing and reporting skills.
- Experience working collaboratively in a culturally diverse team.
- A current driver's licence.
