HydroChem

Braeside

Braeside VIC 3195 | Part time, approximately 25 to 30 hours per week

About us

Hydrochem is one of Australia's leading water treatment companies, with a proud history of more than 45 years. We maintain critical water and cooling installations at sites across the country, including shopping centres, airports and universities. We are a national business of more than 300 people, and our office is in Braeside in Melbourne's south east.

The role

This is a broad, hands on People and Culture role working directly with the Head of People and Culture. You will look after your own portfolio of work and be the day to day point of contact for employees and managers across recruitment, onboarding, compliance, policy and general People and Culture matters.

It suits someone who enjoys owning their work, is comfortable making decisions without close supervision, and likes the variety of a generalist role in a business that is still building things.

The hours

We are genuinely flexible on how the hours are worked. Options include school hours across five days, for example 9.30am to 3.00pm, or three to four longer days. We are happy to work this out with the right person.

The role is based at our Braeside office, so no city commute, and free onsite parking.

What you'll do

- Recruitment, onboarding and offboarding across the business

- Coordinate onboarding surveys, ninety day check ins and probation reviews, making sure managers complete them on time and coaching them on how to run the conversations well.

- Practical day-to-day support and advice to managers on People and Culture processes, policies and compliance

- Deliver internal manager training on recruitment, people processes and manager responsibilities

- Maintain policies, procedures and forms, and prepare employee correspondence, contracts and documentation

- Employee records, personnel files and HRIS administration

- Coordinate immigration and visa sponsorship matters, working with our external migration advisors

- Support the annual remuneration review cycle

- Run our recognition and engagement programs

- People and Culture reporting, identifying trends and areas needing attention

- Assist with employee relations, performance and attendance matters

- Support broader People and Culture projects and process improvement

What you'll bring

- Solid generalist People and Culture experience, ideally in a standalone or small team environment

- Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, contemporary awards and general employment compliance

- Confident dealing directly with managers and comfortable holding them to process

- Strong organisation and attention to detail, and good systems and spreadsheet capability

- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

- HR or Business qualification is helpful but not essential

How to apply

We value inclusion and diversity and encourage applications from people of all ages, abilities and cultures, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTIQA+ individuals, people from multicultural communities, people for whom English is a second language, people with disabilities, older Australians, and parents returning to the workforce.

Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
