An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Underground Safety Advisor to join a well-established mining operation in the Goldfields.
This role will suit a safety professional with a strong underground production background who is looking to take the next step in their career within a mechanised hard-rock underground mining environment.
Working on an 8/6 roster with 12-hour shifts, you will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture, supporting operational teams and ensuring compliance with company procedures and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote a high level of safety awareness across the operation.
- Develop, coordinate and monitor safety, procedural and training systems in line with company and legislative requirements.
- Conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments to ensure employees meet required competency and skill standards.
- Undertake regular workplace inspections, task observations and compliance checks to identify hazards and drive continuous improvement.
- Support incident investigations and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Participate in auditing and review processes to ensure compliance with safety systems and legislative requirements.
- Inspect, maintain and manage emergency equipment and systems within the underground workplace.
- Provide practical safety advice and support to operational teams and frontline leaders.
- Build strong working relationships across all levels of the business and contribute to a positive safety culture.
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous underground production experience within a mechanised hard-rock underground mining environment.
- Detailed knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act and Work Health and Safety (Mining) Regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in competency-based training and assessment.
- Previous experience with incident investigations, auditing and workplace inspections.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of an organisation.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Intermediate competency in Microsoft Excel and presentation applications.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) – essential.
- Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety – essential.
- Minimum C Class Manual, unencumbered driver’s licence.
- Previous underground mining experience in a safety, training or operational capacity.
