Allygroup is seeking an experienced APS5-equivalent Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer to support one of the largest and most established FOI functions within the Australian Federal Government. This opportunity offers the chance to work on a diverse range of FOI matters in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, contributing to high-quality information access outcomes and supporting transparency across government.
Role Overview
This is a full-time secondment opportunity, with the role based in one of the following locations: Canberra, Adelaide, or Sydney. The initial contract term is six months, with the possibility of extension.
Working within a high-performing FOI team, you will be responsible for managing FOI matters, applying legislative frameworks, liaising with stakeholders, and contributing to timely and defensible decision-making.
This role would suit candidates with experience in FOI, administrative law, legal practice, regulatory environments, investigations, compliance, or government decision-making functions.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated experience applying or supporting the application of Freedom of Information legislation
- Strong written communication and analytical skills
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy and procedural guidance
- Experience managing sensitive information and competing priorities
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills
- Familiarity with government processes, administrative decision-making, regulatory frameworks or legal environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Must be an Australian Citizen and hold a Baseline Security Clearance
