Toowoomba

The Role

Operating across Toowoomba and the surrounding regions, you will manage a portfolio of residential and commercial insurance repair and restoration projects from initial assessment through to completion. You will assess property damage, prepare scopes and cost estimates, coordinate subcontractors, oversee project timelines and budgets, and maintain clear communication with homeowners, insurers and loss adjusters.

Reporting to the General Manager and Operations Manager, this varied role combines estimating and project coordination with regular time in the field, including travel across the region to assess damage, inspect works and monitor progress firsthand. It would suit someone who brings strong coordination and organisational skills, along with a background in building, construction or a relevant trade, and is ready to apply their practical knowledge across project supervision and estimating. You may already be working as a Building Supervisor, Estimator or Project Coordinator, or you may be an experienced tradesperson or Leading Hand looking to take the next step or transition off the tools. Previous insurance building or restoration experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

With support from experienced leaders, structured training and established systems, you will build specialist insurance repair and estimating knowledge while applying your existing experience in a new environment. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, takes pride in delivering quality work and wants to establish a long-term career with Johns Lyng Group.

Key Responsibilities

- Attend sites to assess property damage, interpret consultant reports and supporting documentation, and prepare accurate scopes of work and cost estimates.

- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors across multiple insurance repair and restoration projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and to a high standard.

- Conduct regular site visits to review progress and workmanship, obtain and file contractor Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), support Work Health and Safety (WHS) compliance and escalate safety concerns promptly.

- Monitor project timelines and repair life targets across active jobs, managing sequencing and addressing issues early to keep projects on track.

- Maintain proactive communication with homeowners, insurers, loss adjusters and subcontractors, clarifying requirements, responding to issues and communicating variations early.

- Issue purchase orders and monitor project costs, margins and variations to support strong commercial outcomes.

- Attend weekly construction meetings and Work in Progress (WIP) reviews, ensuring job files, photographs, estimates and supporting documentation remain accurate and up to date.

Could This Be You?

We are looking for an ambitious individual with a proactive attitude who is comfortable balancing office-based coordination with regular time in the field. To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Experience in building, construction or a relevant trade, with a practical understanding of how repair or construction works are scoped, coordinated and delivered

- Previous experience in estimating, quoting, insurance repairs, restoration or project supervision would be advantageous but is not essential

- Strong communication and customer service skills, with confidence working with homeowners, subcontractors and internal and external stakeholders
