We are looking for a skilled Data Scientist to join our remote-first team in Australia. In this role, you will collaborate with business and technical experts to analyse data, uncover actionable insights, and develop machine learning models to integrate into our business software and solve real-world problems. Your contributions will play a crucial role in driving insights for key business decisions, focusing on casual inference and predictive analytics in areas like sales forecasting, promotion uplifts, cannibalisation, supplier funding ratios and order phasing.

This role will involve work such as analysing and cleansing data, building and training machine learning models, validating models in production and iterating to improve outputs. You will collaborate with our current Data Scientist on data science initiatives, with business consultants on projects in their areas of expertise, with developers on integrating models into the software product and with our support team on rolling out recent functionality and communicating results to clients.

Since our inception in 2002, we have become the market leader in our niche across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. Our software is a trusted tool used by major FMCG companies, and we are committed to growing our capabilities to support our expanding client base. Our supportive, high-performance team is fully remote, working from home though we meet up at least once a year to connect as a team. We also have a set of remote-first perks for home office setup, personal learning and health & wellbeing, and we maintain a longstanding commitment to sensible work hours and a strong team focus on learning and improvement.

Our ideal candidate has the following attributes

- You have a tertiary qualification in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

- You have 2+ years experience in a data science role.

- You have strong experience in causal inference and/or predictive analytics and/or time-series forecasting.

- You are comfortable working with real world messy datasets.

- You have proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation, modelling and visualisation.

- You have proficiency in using cloud environments such as Amazon Sagemaker for ML training.

- You have excellent problem-solving skills and are excited by solving challenging problems and learning new technologies.

- You can work independently in a remote environment, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of problems through to resolution.

- You have a good understanding of how to use AI tools to help you code, analyse data and solve problems, including both benefits and limitations.

- You are a team player who enjoys working collaboratively with others and communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.

Although this role is fully remote, to be considered you must reside in Sydney, Central Coast, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Brisbane or Canberra.

If you are interested, please apply with your resume, and a cover letter that meets the following requirements:

- First page: A short letter addressed to "Brenton", in your own words including:

- A brief outline of why you think this role would be a good fit for you

- Confirmation that you meet the location requirement

- What you had for breakfast today

- Second page: Your university transcript, if you graduated recently

Given the high volume of applications, if the above information is missing, or you do not fit the location criteria, you may not receive a response.
