We are seeking an experienced DAFF Fumigator based at our Depth Defence Logistics Centre at Pinkenba, Brisbane.

This role while based in Brisbane, will require the successfull applicant to travel and carry our DAFF treatments in other Queensland ports and Darwin on a frequent basis. Therefore domestic travel will be very frequent so if this doesn't suit your personal circumstances then please do not apply.

We primarily serve defence and government supply chains which sometimes requires urgent responses in support of their work to keep Australia secure. We also have a growing number of civilian clients and provide all normal freight services for import and export cargo by air or sea.

Our DAFF biosecurity capabilities include DAFF washing, container tailgates and all approved treatments. We have our own DAFF AA and off-port fumigation pads in Brisbane and Darwin and are approved to work in other Queensland ports.

Our business is growing fast so due to this we are currently hiring an experienced DAFF Fumigator, who will be responsible for the fumigation of import and export cargo that comes through our terminals. We will also train you in other DAFF bisecurity treatments and inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide fumigation services for import and export commodities, shipping containers in QLD and NT ports and our DAFF AAs. Extensive domestic travel is required for this role.

- Determine the type and method of fumigation by following DAFF Directions;

- Apply fumigants and monitor continuously to prevent unauthorised access and maintain secure conditions;





- Use hand-held gas monitoring equipment to conduct readings;

- Follow all safety guidelines.

- Ensure equipment and PPE are cleaned, decontaminated and stored according to company requirements;

- Continually improve your knowledge base of the fumigation, and pest control industries.

- Weekend work will be required if fumigation is required for cargo

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/traits:

- Licenced to use DAFF mandated treatments in Queensland the Northern Territory. If you are not approved for the NT we understand that QLD credentials are usually accepted by NT authorities.

- Ability to read and interpret directions and safety instructions, including Equipment Manuals, Chemical Labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

- Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions;

- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and time management skills;

- Current driver's license;

- A forklift or reach stacker ticket would be desirable

- A great team to work alongside

- An MSIC card and/or a Police background check

- An ability to apply for and receive an Australian Dept of Defence security clearance

The base salary will be commensurate with experience and there is a performance linked quarterly bonus available for all team members.

A Defence Force background would be highly regarded but is not essential.
