The Role
Leona Edmiston is seeking an experienced and highly organised Production Manager to join our team in Alexandria, Sydney.
Working closely with the Designer and wider Production team, you will play a key role in bringing the Leona Edmiston collections to life. From initial development through to final delivery, you will oversee the production process to ensure garments are delivered to the highest standards of quality, fit, workmanship and timing.
This is a hands-on role suited to a fashion production professional who understands the end-to-end garment manufacturing process and takes pride in delivering beautifully made, commercially successful product.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end production process across seasonal collections, from development through to final delivery.
- Work closely with the Designer to translate design concepts into commercially viable, high-quality garments.
- Coordinate the ordering, distribution, receiving and maintenance of fabrics, trims, labels and other production materials.
- Liaise with local and offshore suppliers, manufacturers and factories to manage production schedules, costs and delivery timelines.
- Monitor critical path timelines and proactively identify and resolve production issues.
- Ensure appropriate fabric, garment and trim testing is completed, and production requirements are met.
- Coordinate fit sessions, samples and approvals, ensuring fit and workmanship meet Leona Edmiston standards.
- Monitor garment quality throughout the production process and address any quality or workmanship issues.
- Manage purchase orders, production documentation and supplier information accurately and efficiently.
- Track production quantities, deliveries and stock requirements.
- Communicate regularly with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure production milestones are achieved.
- Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers and suppliers while negotiating effectively on budget, quality, timing and production requirements.
- Manage freight companies, COO (Certificate of Origin) documentation, tracking numbers, freight and shipping details, and delivery and shipment status.
- Support continuous improvement across production processes, systems and supplier performance.
About You
You will be an experienced fashion production professional with a strong understanding of garment construction, manufacturing and the Australian fashion industry.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in a Production Manager,
Production Coordinator or similar role within fashion.
- Strong knowledge of garment production, manufacturing processes, fabrics, trims and garment construction.
- Experience managing offshore factories and suppliers.
- Excellent understanding of fit, quality control and garment workmanship.
- Solid organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines simultaneously.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with Designers, Product Development and Sales
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of cost, margin and production efficiencies.
- Proficiency in production and inventory management systems (Apparel 21), Excel and other relevant software.
- A hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced fashion environment.
