About the role
Gippsland Grammar is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Outdoor Education Trainee to join our Outdoor Education team in 2027. This traineeship provides the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across a diverse range of Outdoor Education programs while completing a Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership. Working alongside experienced outdoor educators, you will develop practical skills in leadership, program delivery, risk management, equipment management and outdoor journeying.
The role will support Outdoor Education programs during term time, across both our Primary and Secondary Schools, with the position predominantly based at the Garnsey Campus and involving travel to other Gippsland Grammar campuses and program locations as required.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with programs such as hiking, canoeing, surfing, snow camping, rafting and environmental activities
- Prepare and maintain outdoor equipment
- Support camp logistics and day‑to‑day operations of the Outdoor Education department

This role is ideal for a recent school graduate who:
- Has a passion for the outdoors and adventure

- Is reliable, adaptable and willing to learn
- Demonstrates initiative and strong teamwork skills
- Holds, or is willing to obtain, relevant first aid and child safety qualifications
This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification, providing a strong foundation for future pathways in outdoor education, teaching, recreation, emergency services, community services and related fields.
