ACT Health and Community Services Directorate, Population Health Division is seeking applications for Public Health Registrars for 2027. Come and work in a energetic team, in one of the most liveable cities in the world.

Our work in the ACT Public Service directly serves the needs of the Canberra community. When you work with us you will see the impact that we have on the lives of Canberrans every day. The Population Health Division, led by the ACT Chief Health Officer, leads population health policy for the ACT and provides and commissions a range of services and programs aimed at improving the health of the ACT population through interventions, which:

- promote behaviour changes to reduce susceptibility to illness
- alter the ACT environment to promote the health of the population
- promote interventions that remove or mitigate population health hazards

Working under the direction of Public Health Physician staff, the Public Health Registrar position plays a key role in providing professional advice and support to the Chief Health Officer. The position provides support across a range of public health projects, policy, and operating procedures across all areas of the Population Health Division.





This position offers the opportunity to achieve a broad range of training competencies and experience relevant to both a local public health unit, as well as at the level of a jurisdictional health department.

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

- Must be registered or eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- This role is suited to a Public Health Trainee (or someone eligible to apply) through the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine Advanced Training Program.

Note: This is a temporary position commencing in February 2027 until January 2028 for 12 Months. A merit pool or merit list will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee checks only.
