Role Description The Accountant / Bookkeeper will manage day-to-day financial operations for W'Emerg, including recording transactions, maintaining general ledgers, and reconciling bank and payment platform accounts.
Responsibilities include preparing invoices, tracking accounts receivable and payable, monitoring subscription and advertising revenue, and ensuring accurate and timely entry of all financial data. The role also involves preparing basic financial reports, supporting budgeting and cash flow tracking, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal policies. This is a part-time remote role, requiring consistent communication with the editorial and management teams across different time zones.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in bookkeeping and accounting, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliation, and financial data entry.
- Proficiency with accounting and spreadsheet software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar)
and excellent Excel skills.
- Ability to prepare basic financial statements, budget summaries, and cash flow reports, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of invoicing, accounts payable and receivable processes, and familiarity with online payment platforms.
- Solid understanding of basic financial regulations and standard accounting practices relevant to small media or creative businesses.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote, part-time workplace.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English, and comfort collaborating with an international team.
- Relevant education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications or prior experience in a similar role are a plus.
