Claims Specialist

Permanent Part-Time | Brisbane | Hybrid Working | Commencing Monday 12 October Help customers when it matters most

At Suncorp, we’re here to help our customers when they need us most. As a Claims Customer Service Specialist, you’ll be the first point of contact for customers lodging an insurance claim and play an important role in making the claims experience as simple and stress-free as possible.

We’re looking for people who genuinely enjoy helping others, are confident having conversations and can stay calm and solutions-focused when things get busy.

What you’ll be doing

- Take calls from customers and lodge new insurance claims.
- Ask the right questions to understand what’s happened and determine next steps.
- Explain the claims process clearly and set realistic expectations.
- Connect customers with the right assessors, repairers and suppliers.
- Manage enquiries from customers, suppliers and repairers throughout the claims process.
- Use your judgement to make decisions within policy guidelines and delegated authority.
- Work towards targets while maintaining a high level of customer service and accuracy.
- Look for ways to improve the customer experience and how we do things.

What we’re looking for

- Previous customer service experience, ideally in insurance or another fast-paced environment.




- Strong communication and active listening skills.
- Someone who genuinely enjoys helping people and can handle challenging conversations with empathy.
- Good judgement and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to make decisions.
- Comfortable working across multiple systems and managing competing priorities.
- Resilient, adaptable and able to stay calm under pressure.
- A willingness to learn and develop your insurance knowledge.
- Previous general insurance experience is highly regarded, but not essential.

Shift Options We have 3 part-time opportunities available:

Option 1: Sat, Mon, Fri – 22.5 hours per week – start window 6am-8am

Option 2: Sat, Thurs, Fri – 22.5 hours per week – start window 6am-8am

Option 3: Mon, Thurs, Fri – 22.5 hours per week – start window 8am-10am

‘Start window’ means your rostered start time may vary within the listed hours. You must be able to fully commit to the shift option selected.
