About the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre
Founded in 2001, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum. We are an independent, values-driven, not-for-profit organisation whose programs support and empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well being. We champion the rights of people seeking asylum and mobilise a community of compassion to create lasting social and policy change.

The ASRC movement is proudly supported by a community of committed volunteers and supporters who embrace the organisation’s vision that people seeking asylum can live safely, sustainably, independently and equally.

About The Role (Part-Time, 0.6 FTE)
As our Social Media Coordinator, you’ll be the creative force behind the ASRC’s digital voice! Working in our quick-paced Marketing & Communications team, you’ll turn powerful stories into high-impact social content that inspires action and defends human rights.
From crafting short-form videos to running values-driven campaigns across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn, you will own our social channels end-to-end. If you're a passionate storyteller who knows how to engage audiences, turn complex topics into compelling content and mobilize an online community for refugees and people seeking asylum, this is your chance to make a real-world difference.

Key Responsibilities:

- Content Strategy & Calendar Management: Plan, schedule, and execute engaging content calendars across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube to align with organizational campaigns and advocacy goals.
- Multimedia Asset Creation: Design, shoot, and edit high-quality short-form video (Reels/TikToks), graphics, and compelling copy that communicate human rights, advocacy, and community impact.
- Community Management & Engagement: Actively monitor social channels, respond to public inquiries, foster inclusive online conversations, and build an active, supportive digital community.
- Campaign & Advocacy Support: Collaborate with the Marketing and Advocacy teams to translate complex policy, research,

and lived-experience stories into accessible, values-driven digital campaigns.
- Performance Analytics & Optimization: Track key channel metrics, analyze performance data, and generate regular insights to refine strategy, drive engagement, and expand reach.

About You:

You are a creative digital storyteller who knows how to capture attention, build community, and translate big ideas into scroll-stopping content.

- Digital Native & Trendspotter: You live and breathe social media—especially short-form video on TikTok and Reels—and always know what’s trending and how to adapt it to a brand voice.
- Natural Storyteller & Visual Communicator: You bring clear copy, sharp graphics, and engaging video together to craft messages that genuinely move people to care and take action.
- Community-Minded & Values-Driven: You are passionate about human rights and social justice, bringing empathy, cultural respect, and care to online conversations.
- Data-Informed Strategist: You don't just post—you measure, test, and learn using analytics to understand what resonates and continually grow audience reach.
