About the team/About the role:
The Information Technology Division plans, builds and runs the technology and data capabilities that support Cancer Council NSW to deliver its vision of a cancer free future. The approved IT strategy identifies the need for stronger architecture capability, more consistent management practices, more disciplined prioritisation, and stronger data governance to enable CCNSW’s strategic ambitions over FY24–28.
The CCCNSW AI Strategy however is an organisational strategy, not a sub-component of the IT function. It envisions that we use AI to extend the reach and quality of CCNSW’s purpose, supportive care, cancer prevention, research, and the services that enable them.
The Enterprise Architect provides strategic leadership for enterprise architecture and AI across Cancer Council NSW, ensuring technology and AI initiatives align with organisational goals, governance requirements and business needs.
Please note this is a fixed term contract until June 2027.

Key responsibilities of the role:
- Lead and mature Cancer Council NSW's enterprise architecture practice, including governance, standards, roadmaps and design review processes.
- Drive AI enablement across the organisation by establishing frameworks, standards and reusable approaches that support AI adoption and value realisation.
- Embed responsible AI practices by ensuring privacy, cyber security, risk and compliance requirements are reflected in governance and implementation guidance.
- Provide enterprise-wide architecture leadership and strategic advice to business leaders, delivery teams and governance forums to support investment and technology decisions.
- Develop and maintain architecture standards, templates and reference patterns that enable consistent, scalable and sustainable technology outcomes.
- Identify and guide opportunities for innovation, simplification and business transformation, ensuring technology solutions align with enterprise architecture principles and organisational objectives.
About you:
Essential:
- Significant experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture,
technology strategy or senior technology leadership roles within complex organisations.
- Strong knowledge of architecture frameworks, governance, technology roadmaps, and enterprise technology domains including cloud, integration, data, security and AI.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic technology advice, influence decision-making and align technology outcomes with organisational objectives.
- Experience driving AI adoption and innovation, including knowledge of Microsoft Copilot and related AI technologies, to deliver practical business outcomes.
- Proven stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Enterprise Architecture, Computer Science or a related discipline.
Desirable:
- Experience with TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture frameworks, methodologies and governance practices.
- Experience working within Microsoft technology ecosystems, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Fabric, Copilot and Copilot Studio, with exposure to AI governance and adoption initiatives.
- Relevant architecture, cloud or AI certifications, with experience in not-for-profit, healthcare or other regulated environments desirable.
