CNC Production Planner / Coordinator
Location: Adelaide, SA
Salary: Competitive salary package - commensurate with experience

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Production Planner / Coordinator to take ownership of production planning, scheduling and coordination within a busy precision machining environment.
This is a hands-on operational role combining production planning, CNC machining knowledge, programming, capacity management and team coordination. You will be responsible for ensuring jobs move efficiently through multiple CNC work centres while balancing machine capacity, labour, tooling, quality requirements and customer deadlines.
The role will suit an experienced CNC programmer, CNC Machinist, Production Planner, Manufacturing Coordinator or Workshop Supervisor who understands the realities of machining and wants to take greater ownership of production performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain production schedules across multiple CNC machining work centres.
- Plan and coordinate turning, milling and finishing operations.
- Manage machine capacity, labour allocation, priorities and workflow.
- Release, prioritise and sequence jobs to achieve production and customer delivery targets.
- Monitor WIP and adjust schedules in response to changing production requirements.
- Program CNC machines and support machining operations when required.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models and technical specifications.
- Develop manufacturing methods, tooling and workholding solutions for new jobs.
- Assist with quoting,
estimating cycle times, tooling requirements and manufacturing costs.
- Identify and proactively manage production bottlenecks and constraints.
- Monitor productivity, quality and machining performance.
- Troubleshoot machining and production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Production and other operational stakeholders.
- Support preventative maintenance and efficient utilisation of CNC equipment.
- Mentor and support CNC operators where required.
- Drive continuous improvement across production planning, machining processes and factory workflow.
- Make commercially sound decisions that balance cost, efficiency, capacity and customer commitments.
Qualifications:
You will ideally have:
- Extensive experience in CNC machining within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong CNC programming and machining experience.
- Experience with production planning, scheduling or workshop coordination.
- Strong understanding of CNC machine capacity, setup times, tooling and routing.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience coordinating workflow across multiple machines or work centres.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how production decisions affect cost and delivery.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Production,
Engineering, Quality and management teams.
- A proactive approach to identifying bottlenecks and improving production flow.
Highly Desirable:
- Trade qualification in Engineering / Mechanical Trades or equivalent.
- Experience in aerospace, defence, rail, automotive or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience working within an AS9100 or quality-controlled manufacturing environment.
- ERP/MRP or APS scheduling system experience.
- CAD/CAM software experience.
- Experience with quoting and estimating machining work.
- Previous leadership, supervisory or CNC coordination experience.
- Current Forklift Licence.
