As a Disability Support Worker in Mount Druitt, you will play a vital role in supporting clients to live safely, independently and with dignity. This casual position provides an opportunity to deliver person centred support while assisting clients with daily living, personal care and complex support needs.

The successful candidate will be confident working with clients who require PEG feeding, medication support, insulin administration and blood sugar monitoring, as well as manual handling using specialised equipment.

Significant Communication Requirement

Clear and fluent spoken English is essential for this position. The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and confidently with the client, family members and other support staff, understand verbal instructions and accurately communicate information relating to the client's care and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation and household tasks.
- Provide PEG feeding in accordance with the client's care plan and required procedures.
- Support clients with medication administration.
- Assist with insulin administration and blood sugar level monitoring as required.
- Safely perform manual handling using equipment, including a manual hoist.
- Support clients to access the community and participate in social and recreational activities.
- Develop and maintain positive and respectful relationships with clients, families and other support staff.
- Monitor and report changes in the client's needs, wellbeing or circumstances.
- Complete accurate progress notes,



documentation and incident reports where required.
- Maintain a safe, clean and supportive environment.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement while promoting the client's independence, dignity and choice.
- Follow all relevant health, safety and care procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience as a Disability Support Worker or in a similar role.
- Clear and fluent spoken English is essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and follow care plans, procedures and instructions.
- Experience with PEG feeding, medication, insulin and blood sugar monitoring is highly regarded.
- Experience using manual handling equipment, including a manual hoist.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Empathy and a genuine desire to help others.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
