On Track Recruitment are currently seeking qualified Electricians and Mechanical Fitters to join established rail maintenance and engineering teams in Perth.
These are excellent opportunities for experienced tradespeople looking to step into the rail industry and develop their skills within rollingstock maintenance.
Rail experience is advantageous but not essential, with candidates from heavy machinery, industrial maintenance and electrical backgrounds encouraged to apply.
Mechanical Train Maintainers
We are seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to step into the rail industry and grow into Train Maintainer roles based at Claisebrook and Nowergup, with re-location to Bellevue in early 2027.
Role Details:
• $64.31/hr ordinary time + applicable penalties and overtime
• Rotating maintenance roster
• Temporary position with opportunity to transition to permanent employment
Key Responsibilities:
• Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on passenger trains
• Fault finding, assessment and repair of mechanical systems
• Deferred maintenance activities
• System testing and pre-inspections
• Painting and cosmetic repairs
• Oil leak repairs and corrosion repairs
• Cab windscreen seal and conduit replacements
• General mechanical maintenance and repairs
About You:
• Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter or Heavy-Duty Mechanical Fitter
• Trade certificate must have been obtained through an apprenticeship – RPL will not be accepted
• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience
• Heavy machinery or industrial maintenance experience highly regarded
• Strong team player with a commitment to safety
Electrical Train Maintainers
We are seeking experienced Electricians for multiple Train Maintainer opportunities based at Claisebrook and Nowergup, with opportunities to transition to Bellevue from early 2027.
Positions are available across rotating maintenance and Monday–Friday engineering day-shift teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Electrical maintenance and fault finding on railcars and rollingstock
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical faults
• Planned and preventative maintenance
• Electrical testing, repairs and modifications
• Removing and installing electrical equipment and components
• Electrical loom replacement, including manufacture, installation and testing
• Supporting reliability improvement programs
• Reading electrical drawings and schematics
• Completing maintenance documentation
About You:
• Trade-qualified Electrician / Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent
• Strong electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience
• Industrial, machinery or complex electrical systems experience highly regarded
• Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Rail experience advantageous but not essential
• Solid safety focus and ability to work within a team
