About Us
Hi there! Thanks for clicking on our job ad and giving us a look. We're a digital agency with a difference. Before we get into the serious stuff, a few things that might help you understand us a bit better.
At OP Digital Solutions we say "we" instead of "I", teamwork makes the dream work, and all that.
We've got a table tennis table and a pool table in the office (some of us are far more competitive about this than we'd like to admit), and an office dog, Otis, who will absolutely try to get involved in your workday.
We have a no d***head policy with our clients. They're all great! But if anyone's ever rude, discriminatory, sexist, or makes you feel uncomfortable, tell us. You won't be responsible for what happens next, we'll handle it.
We genuinely enjoy each other's company at work. That matters to us more than almost anything else on this page.
We place good people ahead of ticking every box on a checklist. If you're a couple of points short of the list below, still apply. We'd rather find the right person than the perfect resume.
Now, onto the actual role.
What you'll be doing
This is a full-time role. When you're not out on a shoot, you'll be in the office with the rest of the team. We need someone who can properly own video production for us, start to finish. Not just shoot and hand it off, the whole thing. That means:
- Planning the shoot, from concept through to shot list
- Sourcing locations, models, and catering for shoot days, you're running production, not just showing up with a camera
- Getting out on location solo and shooting it (venues, people, product, campaigns, events, the lot)
- Editing your own footage, social-first cuts through to longer client campaign pieces
- Photography when a shoot calls for stills as well as video
- A colour grade and basic sound design that makes things look and sound properly finished
- Keeping your footage organised so one shoot gives us five pieces of content, not one
- Knowing the difference between a fast, unlit grab and a properly planned production, and shooting accordingly
You'll be working across a genuinely varied client roster, hospitality, golf, food and beverage, professional services, e-commerce, so no two weeks look the same.
What we'd love to see (bolded bits matter most)
- At least 3 years shooting and editing professionally, ideally with some hospitality, lifestyle, or campaign work in your reel
- You're properly good at both shooting and editing, not just one with the other as an afterthought
- Photography skills alongside video, we'd love someone who can grab robust stills on the same shoot, not just video
- Exceptional at building and maintaining relationships, you'll be on set with our clients regularly, and how you communicate with them matters as much as what you capture
- Able to comprehensively brief our editing team, you won't always be the one in the timeline, so being clear on vision, structure and intent matters
- Excited to travel interstate with clients, some shoots will take you outside Melbourne, and we want someone who sees that as a perk, not a burden
- Holds a valid Working with Children Check (or is happy to get one before starting)
- Confident and fast in Premiere Pro (or Resolve, we're not precious)
- Comfortable directing people who've never been on camera before, business owners, staff, nervous clients
- Able to take a brief and run with it, making creative calls without needing every detail spelled out
- A full, clean driver's licence
- A portfolio that shows range, quick social turnarounds and slower, considered campaign work
If you're a bit shy on one or two of these, don't rule yourself out. Show us the reel and let it do the talking.
Preferred personality bits
- Diligence
- A sense of humour (banter is basically mandatory here)
- Willingness to learn and take feedback well
- Confidence, backed up by actually being good at your job
- The ability to work well in a team, and independently on set
- Proactivity
What's on offer
- $85,000–$105,000 plus super, depending on experience
- All camera, lighting and audio gear provided, you're not funding your own kit
- A genuinely varied client roster
- Real ownership over the visual output, not someone else's shot list to execute
- A team that actually likes each other (and a dog who thinks he runs the place), and a growth path as we scale
One more thing
Please write us a cover letter. We know they're a bit daunting, we promise we won't be too critical. Candidates without one won't be considered.
And so we know you've read this properly: tell us your favourite song from 1995 to 2005, artist and title, in your cover letter. If it's missing, unfortunately we can't consider your application. It's a small thing, but it tells us you've actually read this rather than mass-applying.
Happy applying!
